Inconsistently Heinous Wiki

My people know it. From generation to generation, we pass along the lore about the distortions in the world borne by the Mega Evolution mechanism. And about the existence of another world, which we have long observed to be just like this one and yet not the same... That's right. A Hoenn region that's almost exactly like this one we live in. Filled with Pokémon and people like us. A world where maybe the evolution of Pokémon took a slightly different path, where Mega Evolution is unknown... A world where that war 3,000 years ago...never happened. A world where the ultimate weapon was never even built. And in that Hoenn of that world... What would happen if one day, out of the blue, a meteoroid appeared? What would happen to the people of that world, without the technology to destroy the meteoroid or the power to warp it away? ... Looks like it's beyond the power of your imagination.
~ Zinnia explaining about her people and the multiverse, as well as before destroying the dimensional shifter.

Zinnia (ヒガナ) is one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside Deoxys) of the 2014 video games Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

She's a mysterious and powerful Dragon-type trainer who travels across Hoenn by herself, and is capable of taking on Team Magma/Aqua. She belongs to the Draconid people, who are the tribe of people that live in the Hoenn region. They worship Rayquaza, who they refer to as the "Dragon Lord", after it saved the world from Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre.

In Pokémon Masters mobile game, she is voiced by Aimi Terakawa in Japanese and by Vivian Lu in English. In Pokémon Evolutions animated miniseries, she is voiced by Ayane Sakura in Japanese (who also voiced Kuon from Under Night In-Birth series) and by Laura Stahl in English.

Her Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Her Heinous?[]

  • Before the events of the games, she foresaw a meteorite heading towards her world, and she did not inform anybody about it.
  • She disguised herself as a grunt to manipulate Team Magma/Agua into awakening Groudon/Kyogre so she could summon Rayquaza to call upon the incoming disaster, even knowing how destructive Groudon/Kyogre are in bringing natural disaster, unlike their leader Maxie/Archie.
  • Although she contributed almost nothing to help Team Magma/Aqua achieve their goal, the fact that she did not tell her leader about what Groudon/Kyogre are truly capable of shows that she is perfectly fine in allowing them to unleash Groudon/Kyogre on the Hoenn region.
  • After her initial plan failed after the player character saved the Hoenn region by capturing/defeating Groudon/Kyogre, she came up with a backup plan by stealing Key Stones from various trainers so she could use these stones to summon Rayquaza in the Sky Pillar and Mega Evolve it.
    • She first assaulted and stole the rival character's Key Stone in Littleroot Town, then later stole Wally's in Petalburg City.
  • Upon arriving at Mossdeep Space Center, she trespassed and destroyed the dimensional shifter that was meant to change the meteorite's coordination into another dimension. Because of this, she risked and endangered people and Pokémon's lives (including herself), and she felt rather apathetic about it.
  • After that, she stole Courtney's/Matt's and Maxie's/Archie's Key Stones.
  • Despite Pokémon high heinous standards (with villains like AZ, who created a machine to absorb all life, and Volo, who has Giratina and attempted to recreate a new world), Zinnia managed to stand out due to her incredibly low resources, since all she has is mostly herself to work with.

What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]

  • She is a well-intended extremist. The reason why she destroyed the dimensional shifter is because she believed there was another habitable world in the other dimension and changing the meteorite's coordination into that dimension would risk those people as well. Because of this, she thinks summoning Rayquaza to destroy the meteorite is a better solution and it could save both worlds.
  • She is also shown to care for some people. She is faithful and honorable towards her Draconid tribe and has a genuine bond with her Whismur, Aster. She even asks the player character to look after Aster if something happens to herself.
  • Although her tragedy does not justify her actions, she is somewhat portrayed as sympathetic, as she lost someone dear to her named Aster, which is why she nicknamed her Whismur that name. This is the special case because unlike other tragic villains like N or AZ, Zinnia did not receive any happy ending.
  • She is affable and honorable towards the player character as she complimented them for defeating Groudon/Kyogre. When she failed to Mega Evolve Rayquaza, she realized that the player character should be the one to capture and Mega Evolve the Sky High Pokémon. She also taught Rayquaza Dragon Ascent after the player character captured it, enabling it to Mega Evolve. After the meteorite crisis, she left her Salamencite and a thank you note to her grandmother so she could have her give these to the player character.
  • After the player character and Mega Rayquaza destroyed the meteorite and captured/defeated Deoxys, Zinnia redeemed herself by returning all of the stolen Key Stones back to their original owners as well as leaving Hoenn to find her true purpose.

Trivia[]

  • She is one of three mainline Pokémon Inconsistently Heinous villains, others being AZ and Lysandre.
    • Interestingly, all three of them were introduced in the 6th generation.
  • She is currently the only female Pokémon Inconsistently Heinous villain.
