Zabuza Momochi is a major antagonist from the manga/anime series Naruto, being the first major enemy encountered by Team 7. He is a ninja from the Hidden Mist Village that became a mass murderer and later an assassin and one of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist. He also has a partner named Haku that travels with him and helps him.
He was voiced by the late Unshō Ishizuka in Japanese, and Steve Blum in English, the latter of whom also voiced Orochimaru.

What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- In the past, he committed a massacre during an exam he was taking as a child, though this exam involves fighting to the death, He murdered over 100 people. A scene in the manga showed multiple victims surrounding Zabuza after he committed the massacre.
- When he was talking to Team 7, he expressed happiness at the thought of his bad reputation for the massacre he committed as a child.
- Zabuza betrayed the Hidden Mist Village and attempted to assassinate the Fourth Mizukage, Yagura, in the past.
- He was the first serious threat that Team 7 faced. While he was fighting Team 7, he expressed no reserves in potentially killing or seriously harming Naruto and others, despite the Genin being children who just graduated the Ninja Academy.
- He was an assassin who would kill people for business. His attempted assassination towards Tazuna demonstrates that he would even kill civilians.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- His attempt at Coup d'etat was justified, considering the Mizukage's reign was one of bloodshed and corruption (even though Yagura was being controlled by Obito).
- Due to his village making him fight other ninja to the death, his descent into villainy is justified.
- While he was a cold-blooded killer in the past and played a role in Haku becoming a villain, he raised Haku almost like his son, when he found Haku by himself. Unlike Orochimaru, he did not merely see him as a pawn.
- Although he’s a mercenary who would cross many lines, he will relent on his attacks if his employment is terminated.
- When he heard from Naruto about how Haku respected him and when Gatō defiled Haku's corpse by kicking him, Zabuza took it upon himself to avenge Haku for what Gatō did. He risked his life by running into an angry mob of men to be fatally injured by them in order to kill Gatō. This showed that he was willing to die in order to stand up for the deceased Haku.
- Due to killing Gatō, Zabuza was pivotal towards putting an end to the oppression that Gatō held over the Land of Waves.
- Zabuza had a sympathetic passing. He laid next to Haku peacefully and expressed gratitude towards the young man before passing on.
- When Zabuza was revived by Kabuto Yakushi's Impure World Reincarnation technique to fight as an undead pawn during the Fourth Great Ninja War, Zabuza expressed anger over this seeing the whole situation as wrong. This showed that he also had standards as he was against having the deceased used as pawns in the war.
