Inconsistently Heinous Wiki

So the last proposal was a unanimous rejection. Alas, Quasimodo will not see this wiki. But today, I'm proposing a new character, and he's a king. But he's not a true villain, so he's bring brought here. (Thank you Complete Monster for granting permission for this one)

What is Starwatch?

Starwatch is a fanfiction story written by RealM1NEPR0, and it's technically a parody of Overwatch's Starwatch event, which in turn was a parody of space opera. Anyways. it's a story of a prince-becoming-king losing his people to the Galactic Emperor, and he sets out to stop his tirade on the nebula. The emperor is a clear villain, and Prince Correia is a clear hero, but the prince's father is the interesting one.

Who is King Quarren unos Santos?

King Quarren unos Santos - or just the king - is the former king of Qui'nar, a planet located in an asteroid field. He ruled over his people for a long time, and prepared his son for the throne. But during this period, he treated the Infinite Ace (Hana Song) unfairly to the point of neglect, setting her on a path of usurpation for the throne. He didn't make it past the first chapter, but what he did in the past had effects long past his demise.

What makes him Heinous?

This is going to be a process, so here we go. The major heinous thing was basically forgetting that Hana even existed. While his reason that the queen cheated on him and sired Hana is somewhat plausible, there were better ways of treating her. And while this happened before the events of the story, it's brought up too many times to be completely offscreen villainy. Plus, it had the result of turning Hana into the genocidal usurper she is today, so he's not entirely an offscreen evil doer, even if this was unintentional.

He also exiled his wife after Hana was born, leaving the prince and Hana without a mother while they were growing up. He also executed Hana's biological father for the same reason he exiled his wife and never acted like a father to her, basically forcing Hana to grow up without parents. This also put Hana onto her path of revenge.

The 3rd thing is that the emperor stated that the king funded the Infinite Empire, which would make him partially responsible for the emperor's deeds, which include, but may not be limited to; Genocide, mass enslavement, mass murder, mass destruction, and more. And there is no evidence that he ever had doubts about it. Again, this is mentioned a few times, so it's not completely offscreen.

Heinous Standards?

While the emperor himself and Hana did much worse, the king didn't have the resources to compete with either of them, as the emperor was a superpowered genius with an army of untold numbers, and Hana had access to those resources as well, making them unfair comparisons. And while Operative Oxton had similar resources and crippled someone in 2 days, the king had years (or orbits, which is what they use for years) of abuse under his belt, so I'm giving him a pass for the baseline.

What makes him Inconsistent?

For starters, he is not a villain, as he was just a king trying to keep his planet together however he could. His reasons for leaving Hana out of the picture due to fear of political uprising aren't completely far-fetched. Think about it: if you told an entire race of people that an illegitimate child was royalty, then they'd probably have questions about that.

The second major thing is that he cares for his son, King (formerly prince) Correia dos Santos, as he instilled a sense of goodness in him, which led to him stopping the Galactic Emperor, and freeing the nebula from his rule. This shows how much the king cared for Correia, even if he didn't care for Hana in the same way.

Final Verdict?

I'm giving a tentative yes for this ruler.
