Cthulhu Death May Die

For my first proposal upon being Whitelisted today I will have a Godzilla related IH Proposal and seemly the first IH proposal of the very wiki to be a Godzilla Comic Villain too.

What's the work

Godzilla vs. Cthulhu: A Death May Die Story is one-shot comic by CMON Games published through Guillotine Press in the San Diego Comic 2024 that promote a crossover between Cthulhu: Death May Die and Godzilla officially licensed by Toho that has a Godzilla mini-game piece add on for the game.

How evil is he?

Since the comic is a one-shot comic, Cthulhu is easily the only villain as he got zero competition. There is the Nightmare Children cult but they do literally nothing in the comic aside from "kill the heroes" villainy and are his cult meaning his servants as they awaken him up.

Because of this he doesn't need to compete with other kaiju like King Ghidorah (Though Ghidorah appear in the comic but only as a illusion lol) so he passes not only the baseline but also the heinous standard too.

Henious Acts

Cthulhu first act after waking up was he slowly drained the life out of many marine live and kill them as he heads to Boston although it is unknown if they are sapient making this an debated validation at best.

Cthulhu attempted to destroy Boston as it was offered as a sacrifice by his cult the Nightmare Children which has millions. Cthulhu caused mass death and destruction as he destroyed many buildings and kill people shown with some of his tentacles grabbing in some panel them, when the humans tried to drop bombs on him he summon in monsters to destroy the planes and only assisted in his rampage and destruction.

It was stated Cthulhu would later destroy the rest of the world when he is done with Boston and is far from fridge-horror due to seemly being invincible to human weaponry especially since it is set in the 1920-1930's and it has become a recurring theme in Cthulhu based work too anyways.

Cthulhu would have destroyed Boston if weren't for Godzilla who arrived later on after tossing a boat at him which had Cthulhu change his attention to the monster king as their fight caused more death and destruction with him seemly torturing Godzilla with electricity and illusions until their fight was interrupted by being blasted by X-Airship’s Atom Smashers to attack both monsters which were ineffective as Cthulhu was unfazed while it hurt Godzilla but only absorbed their energy and used an orange spiral atomic breath to put an end to Cthulhu and save the world by rendering him inactive. (He wasn't shown killed only rendered inactive as he stopped moving. Since Godzilla left and was victorious Cthulhu is either dead or just his avatar at least).

For everyone’s favorite part which is comedic moments, he got only one comedic moment when Godzilla tossed a boat into his face that knocks him down, but he got back up and it doesn't detract him as a threat. It is likely an callback to his original story of being rammed by a boat than anything.

Cthulhu got zero redeeming qualities whatsoever and easily passes the heinous standard for causing mass death and destruction in Boston and would have destroyed the city and later the world if not for Godzilla putting astop to him. Due to him being the only major antagonist and has no competition in the comic since it is an one-shot comic, he easily passes the baseline and heinous standard easily.

Preventions?

While he easily passes the baseline and heinous standard due to zero competition from other kaiju besides Godzilla who has a heroic role in this comic, however due to the severe lack of characterization, personality, and no moral agency, he is easily an "Generic Doomsday Villain" which prevent him from being PE or even NPE.

Verdict

A big easy yes as him being the only major villain in the one-shot comic, he passes the heinous standard of the comic for causing death of lots of marine life and causing many deaths in Boston who were offered as sacrifices by his cult, gonna was gonna destroy the world afterwards, and attempt to brutally kill Godzilla but due to an lack of personality, characterization or an moral agency is too much of a hinderance to be PE or even NPE since he would be classified as an "Generic Doomsday Villain".
