Yeah I am proposing a character from one of those terrible Asylum films which I decided to do for Halloween special here and yes it is freaking Captain Edward Smith from that Titanic 666 horror film that is terrible.
Whats the Work?
Titanic 666 is a horror film by the Asylum that is a sequel to their previous film Titanic II that feature the Titanic III sailing into the haunted waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
Who Is He?
The ghost of Captain Edward Smith is the main overarching antagonist who is the captain of the original Titanic who seeking vengeance on the Titanic III people.
What Makes Him Heinous?
Heinous Standards
There is no other villains to compete with even though it is a sequel to Titanic II the main antagonist of that film is freaking global warming which doesn't count as a Villain lol.
Heinous Actions?
After his descent Idina Bess summoned him he would summon in the other restless spirits to haunt the Titanic III where they would all attack and kill many personages throughout the film and scaring some people that give PTSD.
He would possess his descendant would make the Titanic III crash into a iceberg even one of the main protagonists Captain Celeste Rhoades pleaded and tried to reason with him that it wont bring the dead back where he would make Idina commit sucuide before letting everyone else to die where the ship sink and some people die during the evacuation.
Possible Preventing Factors?
Although mostly a mute ghost he has enough characterization through his actions and speaking through Idina after possessing her gives him barley enough characterization to not be a Generic Doomsday Villain.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?
Although not played for sympathy in the narrative but due to him being a victim of the original Titanic disaster automatically makes him too tragic for PE or NPE for obvious reasons here as even Captain Celeste Rhoades sympathized with him in one scene despite her failing to reason with him.
Not to mention he is also a Villain by Proxy given he only did his deeds due to believing the dead of the original Titanic disaster was being disrespected due to divings of the wreck in-universe and Titanic III when his descendant Idina Bess described it as "desecrating sacred waters" and is profiting off the survivors deaths" and when he possessed Idina he spoke through her also confirms it more.
Verdict
An ironic yes to this undead ship captain.
