The Jogoat

Alright, time to talk about a character I'm surprised no one bothered talking about especially after his defeat. Fortunately, I'm not letting the King of Bad Matchups get done dirty again by not talking about him so let's get to discussing.

What's the Work?[]

Jujutsu Kaisen is a 2018 manga series created by Gege Akutami that received an anime adaptation in 2020 and quickly became one of if not THE most popular anime on Earth, bringing about timeless memes and moments that'll be remembered in anime and manga.

The series revolves around sorcerers called Jujutsu Sorcerers, people who use Cursed Energy to fight off Cursed Spirits, creatures born from negative emotions. The story begins with our main character Yuji Itadori, who got himself mixed in with the world of Jujutsu after eating the finger of Ryomen Sukuna, a being from thousand-year-old that went beyond the concept of Sorcerers and Curse Spirit. Satoru Gogo, one of the teachers from Jujutsu High and without a doubt the strongest sorcerer the moder age, puts a pause on Yuji's execution after he ate the finger and gives him the choice to die before or after he finds all of Sukuna's finger. To honor his grandfather's dying wish of saving people, Yuji joins Jujutsu High to find the rest of Sukuna's fingers, save people from Cursed Spirits and stop Curse Users from using their skills to hurt people.

Who is Jogoat- I mean Jogo?[]

Jogo is one of the villains from the series. He's a special grade Cursed Spirit born from humanity's fear of fire taking on an appearance equivalent to a volcano.

Jogo is an old and hot-tempered Cursed Spirit who takes pride in his own abilities. He and his Disaster Curses friends see Curses as creatures who are the true humans who deserve to walk the earth and are superior to said humans. He is best known for his infamous losing streak at the hands of the two strongest characters in the series. However, despite his outlandish loses to the two strongest, Jogo is nowhere near weak and is more powerful than most other Cursed Spirits, even earning the respect of Sukuna himself with how powerful he is.

Heinous Standard[]

Now, when it comes to the heinous standard of the series, it's VERY high. We got Suckuna who loves to fight till his heart contents and his most infamous moment being when smoked pretty much everybody in Shibuya and brought his vessel to the scene of the crime just to rub sault into the wound, Mahito who severely wounded and/or killed a 15-year-olds friends all so he could break said 15-year-old. And Kenny who's, in the best way I can describe it, basically committing terrorism bc yolo why not. Jogo might not be as bad as them and is pretty much one of Kenjaku's pawns, but in a similar way where Geto stands out because of his unique goal to kill all non-sorcerers and create a world for Jujutsu Sorcerers, why can't the same apply to Jogo with his unique goal to create a world for Curses, which would result in the extermination of ALL of humanity, sorcerers included.

But to bring up the worst thing he did, he burnt a restaurant full of people in it just to flex his powers, turned Nanami into Two-Face which led to him being weak enough to the point where Mahito could kill him, killing Naobito, burning Maki giving her permanent scars and lastly feeding 10 Yuji 10 of Sukuna's fingers, resulting in Sukuna waking up destroying most of Shibuya killing thousands and traumatizing Yuji.

Side note: Jogo is a memed character, like probably the most memed character in the series (ok one of the most memed characters in the series. Forgot that Meg and Kashi exist lol). His character design is goofy looking, Gojo doesn't take him seriously and Mahito doesn't take him seriously. But his comedic moments are only with those two and that's it, Jogo is a force to be reckoned with, even someone like Yuji believes that he's much more dangerous than any other Cursed Spirit he came into contact with. Jogo's actions are seen as troublesome and horrific while his comedic moments are only with specifically two characters.

What Makes him Inconsistent?[]

There are three things that keep Jogo from being a complete monster.

1. The reason for his goal: If you put yourself in Jogo's shoes, he's basically an extremist who just wants to create a world where his homies and to a greater extent Cursed Spirits as a whole live freely and won't have to be suppressed by humanity and sorcerers. Unlike Mahito who's only in it for his own sadism, Jogo's plan to wipe out the human race is all for the sake of a better world for curses and didn't even care about dying if it meant that goal would come true. Like I said, he's no different from Geto as they believe that their goals are for the betterment of their own kind. Jogo with Curses, and Geto with Jujutsu Sorcerers.

2. His friendship with Hanami and Dagon: Jogo's friendship with Hanami and Dagon is genuine, he'd do things with them that regular people who are friends would do. He mourned the deaths of Hanami and Dagon, tried to save Hanami from Gojo and was sad when they ended up getting blown into nothing, avenged Dagon by mopping the floor with Nanami, Maki and Naobito, and said himself that he couldn't wait till the day where he and the other two would be together again after they reincarnate.

3. His death: Jogo's death is treated as sympathetic in a way down to the music, him reuniting with his pales in the afterlife, and him shedding a tear after Sukuna followed him into the afterlife (lol) and told him to stand proud because he is strong.
