Hello everyone! I am back with a rather odd one, but one I think that counts; it's a version of Herobrine who is deadset on getting revenge on Notch. But as for now, let's get onto the proposal, shall we?
What's the work?[]
Mr. Herobrine's Singalong Tragedy is a trilogy of songs made by TheDuckCow detailing the tale of Herobrine and his quest for revenge over Notch betraying him, and honestly, compared to most versions of the character, his reasons for hating Notch are a lot more understandable
Who is he?[]
Herobrine is the main protagonist of the trilogy, formerly a normal player and person whose account was corrupted by Notch, which caused him to spiral into his desire for revenge and "justice". And as the songs progress, it shows more and more of who he and Notch are, which we will now go into
What has he done?[]
As for what he has done? Well, he forcibly turned two people into a villager and an enderman, and judging by how they were acting and how they were scared before Herobrine did so, they are aware of it and aren't happy about it. He also creates creepers, mooshrooms, and pigmen for no reason other than to spite Notch's creation. He ends up getting his revenge by killing Notch, who is considered the God of the Minecraft world, with people clearly becoming very distressed upon noticing Notch was "removed", and judging by Notch's lines, Herobrine has been tormenting people for years. He is also the person who created the Nether
But here is what REALLY pushes him over the edge: he destroys an entire city and kills the people in it, and onscreen we see characters being killed and running in fear, one of whom was killed by Herobrine himself, and uh, it didn't exactly look like a pleasant way to die considering how they were drained of color, and he is later seen sitting on a destroyed building with the city in shambles around him.
Heinous Standards[]
Due to being the only active villain in the trilogy, with all the others being mindless monsters or beings he summoned, he sets the standards.
What makes him inconsistent?[]
Say what you will about what he would go on to do afterwards, but he didn't deserve to be betrayed in the slightest
| “ | Sad, gone, lost, alone in pain. I'm just a sacked pawn in this monsters game. Who I used to call my brother now I know to be no other than the one who wants me dead just for the fame. Listen closely, Notch you spiteful man; You cannot remove me now. Its you I'm after, and you better have a plan, or take your final bow. Oh why did I believe those lies? Now these eyes are my only prize... | „ |
| ~ A brother betrayed knows only pain |
Simple: His tragedy, he was corrupted and turned into what he is now by the one he called a brother, with Herobrine having done nothing to deserve it, with it being shown that Herobrine was deeply hurt and confused by this betrayal, with him wanting revenge and justice for this betrayal, His tragedy portrayed with a lot of sympathy and is given far, and I mean FAR too much focus and is too much of a defining trait for him to be NPE, with even Notch expressing great remorse and guilt over what he turned Herobrine into, with him admitting that had he not done what he did, Herobrine likely wouldn't have become the monster he became. While he does show sadism in what he does, the narrative leans toward it being a mask to hide his pain, with even Herobrine killing Notch being sympathetic, as it is heavily implied that Herobrine feels remorse for doing so. His final screen sees him looking solemnly down at the destroyed city, showcasing that even after everything, Herobrine is a deeply hurt person who doesn't understand why the person he called a brother did this to him.
While Notch does say he has tried to lend a hand to Herobrine, Herobrine's hatred ultimately overpowered reason, and even then, Notch still feels immense guilt and feels extremely bad for what he did to Herobrine, with him acknowledging that had he not corrupted Herobrine, Herobrine wouldn't have become so evil, and it's made clear that Herobrine sees himself as in the right for wanting justice for what was done to him.
So all and all, Herobrine's tragedy is given far too much focus and too much sympathy for NPE, as it is made a defining trait of his character, with the actual trilogy being called "Mr. Herobrine's Singalong Tragedy"
It is heavily implied that Herobrine feels remorse for killing Notch, as while he briefly smiles after doing so, his face changes to one of sadness upon seeing his former best friend and brother dead by his hands. It's clear he felt no satisfaction in doing so, with him even saying at the end of the song, "I can't change a thing" as he looks at the destroyed city with a sad expression, meaning that he more than likely does feel remorse for killing him. With this, you could also probably say he does deep down still care about Notch, as at one point he reminisces about how the two played together as kids and how much he depended on Notch, which once again is played for sympathy and meant to paint a clearer picture as to why Herobrine felt so betrayed.
Conclusion?[]
I think yes, but it's up to y'all
