~ The Hacker on numerous occasions. |
Hieronynous Hacker, or The Hacker, or simply known as Hacker, is the main antagonist of the PBS Kids series Cyberchase. He is a cyborg who is obsessed in trying to rule over the cyberworld.
Hacker was the former assistant to his creator Dr. Marbles, made to help him and Motherboard (The ruler of Cyberspace). He even creates an assistant for himself, a robotic bird named Digit. Hacker however became egotistical and craved authority, and now wants to take over the computer-esque world, betraying his former friends in the process. He creates and employs Buzz and Delete to help him achieve his hegemonic goals. In the series itself, Hacker constantly tries to make plans in gaining power in each episode, only to be thwarted by three children from Earth; them being Jackie, Matt, Inez, being accompanied by Digit.
He is voiced by Christopher Lloyd.
His Evil Ranking[]
What makes him Heinous?[]
General[]
- He tries numerous times to take-over Cyberspace or to gain at least some sort of power through unethical means, primarily to twist it into his own image. He will often put others into dangerous and potentially life-threatening situations just to reach his goals.
- Hacker also seems to have little standards for whom he will not harm. Many of his victims include: former allies, teenagers, children, and even relatives.
- He often berates those around him for trivial reasons (an example being when people refer to him as "Hacker" and not "The Hacker"), even his own robots when things don't go his way.
- He is seen trying to ruin holidays for other Cyberfolk, sometimes not even for his motivation for control, showing he has a sadistic side to him.
- While he is an Artificial Intelligence, he willingly turned against his former allies and tried to kill them on many occasions. It was also shown in his past that he is capable of doing good, since he wanted what was best for Cyberspace; however, this eventually turned into a lust for power. All of this displays that he has a moral agency.
- While there are some villains with the same goals as him (e.g. Wicked has magical abilities which Hacker does not have), Hacker stands out due to having lesser resources and committing worse crimes, easily making him stand out as the most heinous character in the series.
Series[]
- He betrays Motherboard and infects her with a virus in an attempt to destroy her. Although this fails, it causes enough damage to put her in a weakened state, relying on the three earth kids and Digit to aid her in protecting Cyberspace.
- He steals many powerful and essential objects so he can cause havoc.
- Furthermore, some Cybersites were nearly uninhabitable due to these items missing, one example being the Sunispshere, as the Cybersite of Solaria would have been turned into a winter wasteland without it.
- He kidnaps several creatures known to bring luck so he can have better chances at defeating Motherboard.
- He keeps the leaders of many Cybersites hostage, including his own creator.
- He had also held the King of Happily Ever Afterville for ransom.
- He traps Dr. Marbles and Lady Ada Lovelace in a time machine invented by the latter to try and send the both of them to the Netherworld permanently.
- He and Wicked created a new virus to infect Motherboard, causing her to brainwash the Civilians of every Cybersite to become mean.
- Hacker also states that there were "only 694 Cybersites left to turn bad", giving a clear idea on how many would be affected by the virus.
- He sent Hate Letters to Mister Z telling him he is worthless. This causes him to run away, bringing the Cybersite of Gollywood to chaos.
- He briefly succeeds in taking over Cyberspace after making a fake incrypter chip. He then abuses his power before later being undone in the 2-part episode "The Snelfu Snafu".
- He abducts Jackie and holds her hostage on a tower.
- It was also revealed in the past, that he was on the same tower. It was until a circus group rescued him believing he was in danger. After they realize they had freed Hacker, they became ashamed and never performed again until they and the Cybersquad rescue Jackie.
- He Freezes the emperor of Penguia and usurps his throne. He also threatened to freeze anyone else who tried to save him. Had no action been taken, the emperor would have been permanently frozen with no way to free him, putting him in an "I must scream situation".
- He uses a machine known as the transformatron to turn himself into a giant robot. He then terrorizes many civilians upon receiving transformation.
- He tried to destroy and crush Motherboard with 2 galactic piles of trash that had been formed from civilians in Cyberspace that had thrown away their trash and collected into it in "Space Waste Odyssey.
What makes him inconsistent?[]
- He has too many comedic moments to be considered PE or NPE, with his defeats often being played for comedy.
- Although he is very inconsiderate of others, he still genuinely cares about some individuals.
- Despite how many times he abuses them for their incompetence, Hacker occasionally shows admiration to Buzz and Delete for their work, the duo also shares this back, displaying their relations.
- Hacker is shown to have a niece named Harmony, in which he tries to make her happy when she is visiting him, although he does end up creating chaos in order to appease her.
- Though they aren't people, after he was banished to the Northern Frontier, he has shown genuine care for the trees in the place and saw them as his only source of comfort, and even helped the Earthlings stop Zusk who was trying to vaporize the trees and even replant them afterwards.
- This also makes him tragic to some degree.
- Though none of it makes him On & Off, he has some moments in the later seasons where he isn't really a problem. For example, when he celebrated his birthday with healthy food in the forest, even with his archenemies, including Motherboard.
Trivia[]
- Hacker is currently the only Inconsistently Heinous villain to be voiced by Christopher Lloyd.
