Norman? What are you talking about? I am The Goblin. Love... love is a weakness. Goblin has no weaknesses because Goblin loves NO ONE!
~ The Goblin to Spider-Man.

Norman Osborn, better known as The Goblin or The Green Goblin, is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Doctor Octopus) of the TV series Ultimate Spider-Man. He is the main antagonist of first season, one of the two main antagonists (alongside Doctor Octopus) of the second season, the overarching antagonist of the New Warriors arc and the main antagonist of The Spider-Verse arc in the third season and a recurring anti-hero in the fourth season.

He was voiced by Steven Weber.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • He was neglectful towards his son Harry.
  • He mistreated his employee Otto Octavius.
  • He hired several supervillains to capture Spider-Man.
  • He intended to weaponize Spider-Man's powers, leading to the creation of the Venom symbiote.
  • He was angered upon learning that Venom was apparently destroyed and ordered Octavius to create an improved version.
  • He brushed off Harry when the latter tried to tell him that he operated as the black-suited Spider-Man, inadvertently leading to his rampage as Venom.
  • When he learned Harry's identity as Venom, he marveled at his creation's potential and kept a blood sample to analyze for trace remnants of the symbiote.
  • He fired Octavius when his failures created the risk of Spider-Man tracing the attempts to capture him back to Oscorp.
  • He lied about Octavius surviving the accident that crippled him.
  • He electrocuted Spider-Man and gloated about his plans to obtain his DNA before trying to unmask him.
  • He fought and tried to kill Spider-Man's team when they tried to contain him.
  • He defeated a squadron of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and infiltrated the Helicarrier by imitating an agent's voice and stealing a jet.
  • He revealed to Harry that Spider-Man's DNA was in the serum used to transform him, causing him to blame the wall-crawler.
  • He broke into the Helicarrier lab, crushing Dr. Connors's arm and stealing a pair of gauntlets and a glider.
  • He electrocuted Harry to bring out the Venom symbiote within him.
  • He dismissed Harry as an unworthy host to the symbiote and left him to die when he rejected it.
  • He taunted Spider-Man after believing him to have died from being crushed by a collapsing roof in one of their battles.
  • He abducted Peter Parker and injected him with the Venom symbiote, transforming him into Carnage and sending him to kill Spider-Man's team and bring him Spider-Man himself.
  • He fought Harry when he became Venom once more.
  • While he told Harry that he would be proud of him, he grabbed him and tried to drop him to his death.
  • He allowed himself to be captured to smuggle a sample of Venom aboard the S.H.I.E.L.D. Tricarrier, causing a symbiote outbreak.
  • He bonded to a portion of the symbiote in an attempt to kill Spider-Man.
  • He stole vials of goblin serum from Doctor Octopus and escaped with Spider-Man's unconscious team.
  • He converted Spider-Man's team into goblins and planned to unleash the serum onto all of New York, transforming everyone into a goblin army with which to take over the world while forcing Spider-Man to watch.
  • He fought alongside the Thunderbolts against Spider-Man and the New Warriors upon being released from S.H.I.E.L.D. custody.
  • He stole back his weapons from the armory and claimed the Siege Perilous.
  • He forced Electro to act as a power source for the Siege Perilous when he tried to back out.
  • He collected DNA samples from alternate versions of Spider-Man to make himself more powerful.
  • He kidnapped Spider-Man Noir's version of Mary Jane Watson to bait him into getting his DNA stolen.
  • He taunted Spider-Man with the knowledge of his secret identity after deducing it from the gravestone of an alternate Peter Parker.
  • He gleefully threatened to hurt May Parker, Spider-Man's friends, and even his own son Harry to spite Peter.
  • As the Spider-Goblin, he tried to kill Spider-Man and the Web-Warriors, boasting of his superiority over them.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • Although he neglected Harry, he still genuinely loves and cares for him and became a better father after being cured.
  • He redeemed himself when he was cured of his mutation and became the Iron Patriot, helping Spider-Man against other supervillains.
  • The goblin serum drove him insane when he was transformed against his will, giving him moral agency issues and making him a tragic villain.
  • Shortly before he went fully insane due to his second transformation, he helped Spider-Man defeat the Sinister Six.
  • He vaccinated himself against further attempts to transform him into the Goblin.
  • He appreciated Peter as a friend of the family and chose to keep his identity a secret when his memories of it returned.
  • He helped a depowered Spider-Man restore his powers to stop the Superior Sinister Six.
