The Ferryman is the main antagonist of the Little Nightmares comics and the overarching antagonist of its radio series The Sound of Nightmares. He is a giant humanoid with sagging skin for a face. He travels throughout the lands, looking forward to bringing children into the Nowhere, and eventually to the Maw.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • He convinced via manipulation dozens of children to follow him into the Nowhere, giving them fates worse than death.
  • He kidnapped Otto's sister Cici, driving him insane and being responsible for the latter's downfall to villainy.
  • He took said children to the Maw, where they would be slaughtered by the Twin Chefs and eaten by the Guests. There's also no evidence that the Lady is forcing him into doing it.
  • He took the shape of the Refugee boy's sister when he was chased by the North Wind, manipulating him into thinking that his sister was safe while she was dead long ago.
  • Upon spotting Six, he summoned a group of citizens into chasing her down.
  • After capturing her, he tied her up and forcefully took her to the Maw via his boat.
  • While the heinous standards are high, he easily stands out since he's to blame for the children's horrible fates of being killed and eaten alive.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He is too enigmatic and ambiguous to tell if he's evil or not, as he seems to be a morally grey character simply serving his purpose in this world.
  • He had standards, being objectively horrified by what some of the characters in the series have done, most notably the North Wind for slaughtering and terrorizing a village. He was also disgusted by Otto for experimenting on children and sending them to the Nowhere which is heavily implied to be a fate worse than death.
