The Evil Unalaq is the main antagonist of Varrick's propaganda series: Nuktuk: Hero of the South. He is a mock parody of Northern Water Tribe Chief and Korra's uncle Unalaq, one of the main antagonists of The Legend of Korra Book 2.

His Evil Rankings[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • He abducted Ginger (and presumably countless others) from the Southern Water Tribe purely out of hatred, thus motivating Nuktuk's heroic actions.
  • He took over the Southern Water Tribe as a dictator, just like in real life.
  • He used a giant pet bird to abduct Nuktuk, though he escapes.
  • He tried to use explosives, anti-bending nets, and giant drills against Nuktuk.
  • He tried destroying Nuktuk with his automations, with the resulting battle causing the (albeit temporary) death of Juji.
  • His true evil plan was to power up a doomsday device that was created for the purpose of freezing the world so he can rule over it, which would result in most of the world's population being frozen to death, thus preventing him from being bog standard. Keep in mind, this plan mirrors Ozai's plan in the final battle in Book 3 of Avatar: The Last Airbender except instead of the world being reborn in fire, Unalaq declares a world covered in ice.
  • Although the heinous standards of Avatar are high, he's from an in-universe play with a much lower standard meaning he has no real competition.
  • Unlike the real Unalaq, this one never uses the excuse of good intentions to justify his actions and openly embraces his villainy.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He is a mock parody of the real Unalaq (as part of Varrick's plot to convince Republic City to be part of the Southern Water Tribe's war against the north, which he would profit off of), and thus unlike his real life Pure Evil counterpart, is very comedic and seldom taken seriously.
    • This is also true when Varrick uses the same parody in his exaggerated recap in Book 4 where Zaheer, Vaatu and Amon don't want Unalaq to be part of their team-up due to his unpopularity (which notes the real Unalaq's status as a Scrappy) and hang up the phone on him.
