“ | I am Thanos. I have conquered worlds. I have bent reality around my will. Men cower at the mere mention of my name. And now… now you have mocked me… disrespected me. And here you stand, ready to take advantage of my condition. Ready to finish me. Well, if I am to fall, I will die showing you that Thanos will not be disrespected. Thanos is still a conqueror. Thanos is still a warrior. Thanos is still a god. AND YOU WILL EITHER BOW OR BE BROKEN! | „ |
~ Thanos. |
“ | Am I not Thanos! Did I not butcher the woman who gave me birth, who force-fed me into this hell called life?! Is not the wake of my passing crimson with the blood of my enemies and allies alike?! Death is with me every second of the day! My every moment is spent in either dealing out death or worshiping it! So tell me, who under the stars is better suited than I to be Death's consort? | „ |
~ Thanos. |
“ | Fools taking up arms against omnipotence. They rush head-on into Armageddon. So I shall provide them with a most glorious doomsday! The heavens will run red with blood. But in the end, as always, Thanos will stand triumphant. | „ |

His Evil Ranking[]
Debated Validation[]
- Some could argue that he is a clear on and off, but on several occasions he only does it for self-serving reasons. There are some situations where there is a bigger threat and he needs to ally himself with heroes to get rid of the threat, but most of the time, if not all, he doesn’t do it for a good and pure-hearted reason. Also, nearly all the time, he has been written as a villain, and even recently, for his current death, he died as a villain.
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- Even though he does have a tragic backstory as his mother tried to kill him when he was born and was treated as an outcast by society, it doesn’t justify his actions since he is far past that excuse and grew to no longer care about that when he grew older.
- Death manipulates him to kill, and after some time, he carries out the first murders in the history of Titan. Later, he would murder seventeen people in total.
- He brutally dissected his still-living mother to find out why he was born the way he was, a mutant amongst the Eternals, and later killed her.
- During a storyline, Thanos travelled all over the universe. fathering many children with many different women and marrying them. Then abandoning them for not falling for them.
- After he reunited with death, he told her that he loved her, but she told him that to prove his love and loyalty to her, he had to kill every wife and child he had, which he did and succeeded in killing almost all of them, including infants and children.
- He destroyed cities on his own home world, Titan, and committed genocide against his own people, which eventually led to the destruction of the planet.
- He used the infinity gauntlet to wipe out half of the universe to please the entity Lady Death and earn her love. Although this has been retconned, in which she ordered him to do this, it is still a very heinous act.
- He blows up several planets in an attempt to win her love, be romantic, and flirt with her.
- Creates a female version of himself named Terraxia to make death jealous, who then rips Iron Man’s head off before dying in space.
- He abused and raised his adopted daughters, Gamora and Nebula, to be assassins by forcing them to fight and kill other opponents.
- When Nebula, who claims to be his granddaughter, takes malicious glee in mutilating her, then killing her, then resurrecting her as a zombie with just enough consciousness to know what's happening to her.
- He goes around the cosmos committing atrocities partly to hurt his father, at least before he finally kills him.
- After discovering that he is dying, Thanos seeks help from his father, Mentor. When Mentor denies being able to help, Thanos kills him in gory fashion.
- He has been tormenting a human man every year on his birthday since he was born, just for kicks. This ranges from scaring him when he was young to killing people he knows or destroying the neighborhood he lives in.
- Seeing that Death was attracted to Deadpool, Thanos cursed him with eternal life to ensure he could never be with her.
- He deliberately helped an old lady cross the street in order to prevent a woman who has the potential to cure all diseases, end world hunger, and create universal peace from doing anything of note in her life. When Stephanie eventually ends up on her deathbed, Thanos comes into her hospital room and gives her visions of everything she was meant to do in life, rendering her last moments a depressing realization that he essentially stole her life from her.
- He doesn’t regret any of his actions and vile deeds, which further drives home the point that he even, in one comic, used the Ghost Rider Penance Stare every morning before breakfast and even takes sadistic pleasure in the evil things and the suffering he inflicts on other people.
- Thanks to his existence, characters who crossed over with his Universe such as Wiz and Boomstick are rendered insufficiency heinous even with higher resources.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is affable to some people, as he speaks in a good manner towards several people he is fond of, like Drax for murdering him and Mistress Death.
- He may be an omnicidal maniac, but he has some standards against others who are willing to destroy everything, which makes sense since he most of the time doesn’t want to destroy everything and is willing to fight bigger threats than him.
- He has respect for several people, like Adam Warlock, who may also be the only real friend he has. And after being defeated by Captain Mar-Vell during the Cosmic Cube story, he had genuine respect for him.
- Has some honor, as he never makes himself truly unbeatable, as deep down he knows that he is unworthy of such power.
- Has a crazy love for Death, and it could be seen as obsessive as the things that Thanos is willing to go to win Death's favor and love are insane. And he does seem to get extremely jealous when Death favours Deadpool over him, so he cursed him with immortality just so he could have her for himself.
- He is somewhat insecure, as he constantly wants Mistress Death's love and approval, but in other aspects of his personality, he isn't.
- He has some pet the dog moments, like when his daughter Gamora was a child and he somewhat agreed to go to a celebration, and he at least has some fondness for her when she was a means to an end against the Magus; however, he has attempted to kill her several times, so this is minor.
