| NOTE: For his non-canon counterpart, see Stolas (Pilot) |
Stolas, formerly Prince Stolas of the Ars Goetia, is the deuteragonist of the animated black comedy romantic drama web series Helluva Boss.
He is an extremely powerful demon prince who belonged to the Ars Goetia royal family. One night, he slept with an assassin imp named Blitzo, whom the latter had sex with in order to steal the former's arcane book, the Grimoire, which allows Blitzo and his assassination business the Immediate Murder Professionals (I.M.P) access to the mortal realm to do their job. Stolas allows I.M.P to keep the book on the condition that Blitzo continues to sleep with him.
He is voiced by Bryce Pinkham as an adult, and by Leander Lewis as a child.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
In General[]
- While he cannot be compared to Adam and Sera, as they are far above him in terms of resources and power due to being angels, Stolas still manages to pass the high heinous standards of the Hellaverse, as he was the main benefactor of I.M.P. prior to being exiled since he illegally provided I.M.P. the grimoire that allowed them to travel to Earth to do countless hitjobs, making him the main reason the business, specifically Blitzo and Millie, managed to commit as many heinous crimes as they could. Even when he takes the book back, he gives Blitzo an Asmodean Crystal which allows the business to do the same, but legally. While he never directly participates in hitjobs nor does he order any specific hits unlike his non-canon pilot counterpart, he was still complicit and ultimately did not care that I.M.P. were committing mass murder. His lack of care for the business' immorality gets to the point that he is eventually hired as their receptionist after being striped of his ranks, making him even more complicit in the business' assassinations.
Background/Mission: Zero[]
- He calls Blitzo in a disturbing, lust-fueled manner that weirds the former out completely, and when Blitzo states that he is busy at work, Stolas then decides to teleport into his office without permission and request him to have sex with him there.
Season 1[]
- While he was unaware of what they were doing at first, after finding out, he allows Blitzø and the I.M.P. to keep the grimoire so long as they meet up again in the future, despite knowing that this is breaking Hell's laws.
- In "Murder Family", he offers Blitzo a deal of having sex for a deal wherein Blitzo and the gang can keep the grimoire under the condition that he and Blitzo will have passionate sex once a month on the full moon.
- Whether unknowingly or not, Stolas also takes advantage of the power balance between him and Blitzo to further persuade the latter.
- He calls Blitzo again and hires I.M.P as bodyguards to guard himself and Octavia during their visit to the park, even though Stolas can defend himself since he is a powerful demon, he continuous with his perverts remarks about wanting to have sex with Blitzo in front of his daughter Octavia, making both Blitzo and Octavia uncomfortable and when they call him out, he hypocritically says that they should watch their language, even though he did say worse things than Blitzo and Octavia.
- When I.M.P are captured and about to be killed by D.H.O.R.K.S. in "Truth Seekers", Stolas arrives afterwards and psychologically torments Agents One and Two by possessing Two's body and using his demon form to scare them. While he was trying to save Blitzo and his friends, he still went too far in traumatizing the agents, especially Two.
Season 2[]
- In "Seeing Stars", he throws a bottle of water on a producer, which indirectly causes a fire that burns down the studio and kills everyone in it.
- In a flashback in "Apology Tour", he's shown to have left his influence in the mortal realm, as a cult was formed for the purpose of worshipping him by sacrificing people to him, with him even nonchalantly watching as they sacrifice a man to him.
- Whether it was intentional or not, he gaslighted Blitzo blaming him for not being rescued from Striker even though Moxxie and Millie saved him again, making Stolas ungrateful since Blitzo was busy taking Loona to vet to get her vaccinated. Stolas also called out on Blitzo for wanting sex and Stolas says that he is not in the mood to do sex with Blitzo and that he should respect him even though Stolas was the one who started coercing Blitzo into having sex with him, making Stolas an hypocrite.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is ultimately too tragic to be NPE. He was forced by his father Paimon into an arranged marriage to Stella, someone who then abused him for many years and never loved him. This led to him having to take anti-depression pills in order to cope with his mental state. His adultery is even played for sympathy as Stella hated Stolas’s guts and Stolas wanted to be with someone who truly loves him.
- He cares for Octavia and Blitzo:
- He dedicated his entire life to taking care of Octavia, enduring years of abuse from Stella just so she could have a normal life, and he felt bad that she left because of his lies, crying and begging her to come back and even breaking down in tears when she leaves him for good.
- Unlike his pilot counterpart, whose "love" for Blitzo was twisted and perverted. He genuinely loves Blitzo, being that they are friends since childhood and he liked sharing his time with him, in addition to allowing him to go to Earth using the grimoire for his work without any kind of problem, wanting to go on a date in "Ozzies". Even when they were separated and on bad terms, he never stopped loving him and even attempted to gave his life for him in "Mastermind".
- Furthermore, despite the fact that the entire deal with the grimoire required Blitzo to have sex with him, it was mentioned in "Full Moon" that he had gone months without having sex, showing that it wasn't even mandatory and that Stolas allowed him to use the grimoire even without his conditions.
- Since Helluva Boss is a black comedy show, he has many moments where he is played solely for laughs, such as when he taunts his wife after cheating on her with Blitzo by saying "That was the sound of a f**king divorce!", him asking a cult if there would be cake at their ritual before blood is splattered all over him and when he goes into perverted rants with Blitzo, which are played for comedy in general.
- He is On & Off, being that he does many good things, like enduring Stella's abuse for years just to give Octavia a normal life, saving I.M.P in "Truth Seekers", or saving Blitzo in "Mastermind" even at the seeming cost of his life and also fighting Andrealphus to return for Octavia.
- He is always affable and polite with everyone, regardless of who it is, be it Blitzo, I.M.P, Octavia, Stella, or Verosika.
