~ Springtrap explaining his motive as he's confronted by the Missing Children. |
“ | Alright, I'll tell you. Deliah, I'll tell you. Okay... here it goes... I'm planning to kill you, sweetie. [...] I keep staring at the knife thinking about whether or not I should do it. But this time, I've decided. I will. I want to keep you forever, you see. And the only way is to trap your soul inside me. I know it will work, because it's worked for me six times before. And yes, I'm the Fazbear Killer! And you're gonna be joining my little family! Won't that be so nice? [...] Why would I be joking? Come on, darling... Don't you want to be with me forever? | „ |
~ Springtrap's motive towards Deliah in the Dark Ending. |
Roger Stanford, better known as Springtrap, is one of the two titular main protagonists (alongside Deliah) of Springtrap and Deliah, a Five Nights at Freddy's web comic series created by GraWolfQuinn.
A serial child murderer, his soul haunts a bunny animatronic following his death, which in turn causes him to meet Deliah, whom he quickly grows attached to. However, he is constantly plagued with guilt from both Nick and the Missing Children, which causes him to lash out in rage out of fear of losing Deliah forever.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- Overall, he has a very unhealthy obsessive personality toward Deliah.
- Before the events of the story, he murdered six children. While he did do it because he wanted a family, it doesn't excuse this action at all.
- Although he genuinely cares for Deliah and is considered her best friend as well as a genuine father figure, he's still abusive, overprotective and clingy towards her, and sometimes threatens her.
- Threatens and taunts Nick constantly over his daughter, which shows more of his over-protectiveness.
- In a flashback to a few weeks after they met, it's revealed Springtrap attacked Deliah by nearly crushing her arm. That said, he did feel remorse for it and apologized.
- Lured Harry away from Deliah just to threaten him with the fact he's the Fazbear Killer, and that he would kill Harry if not for Deliah being heartbroken over it. He also tells him that he could just say bye to Deliah, as Springtrap is her best friend alone. He then threatens to kill Harry if he ever returns.
- Tries to attack and possibly even kill Harry once he found out the latter recorded his threat, only stopping because he threatened to tell Deliah.
- Hurt, angered, and offended Deliah "forgot" about him due to her and Harry playing, Springtrap goes into an emotional rage and is about to attack Deliah again (evidenced by his raised fist and him grabbing Deliah). However, he realizes what he's doing and goes into an emotional breakdown. He aggressively grabs Deliah while thinking to himself out loud. He then offers to make popcorn, and have the two watch a movie. However, Deliah is shown to be more afraid of Springtrap.
- Using the emotional moment, he advises Deliah to stay away from Harry, due to the fact Springtrap wants her to himself.
- Springtrap would end up scaring Deliah during their game of Hide and Seek, which would cause her to start crying. This is minor, however, as Springtrap was unaware of the nightmares Deliah was having, and he felt very bad after. That said, this would quickly be subverted as once Deliah refuses to explain the dream again, Springtrap gets frustrated and lashes out that he's sick of not being told about the nightmares. This is interrupted when Deliah's dad walks in, however, in which Springtrap quickly tries to apologize.
- Springtrap would snap at Deliah once again as she was too close to finding out he was the Fazbear Killer, in which he threatens her (which a second later he proclaims as accidental). Once Nick saves her, Springtrap tries to attack him and then calls him a bitch when Nick tries to warn Deliah that something's wrong with him. He then makes it clear that he would've killed Nick if not for the fact he can't feel pain. That said, he apologized for this later.
- Although a minor incident, Springtrap threatened Harry's older brother by saying "I'm sure you can guess" after Harry's older brother asked "What are you gonna do if I don't?", possibly implying Springtrap would kill him. The same thing would happen later when Springtrap shot the older brother a dagger as he was making fun of Deliah and Harry for enjoying hide and seek.
- Later that night, Springtrap confronts Nick (who found out Springtrap's secret via a phone call) at Deliah's door. Angered by a response given by Nick, Springtrap places Nick in a chokehold and drags/pins him to the wall. He threatens Nick that if he tells Deliah, takes her out of his sight, or does anything funny, he'd not only kill Nick, but kill Deliah first just so Nick could watch (showing how insane he is). This threat scares Nick to the point of having nightmares about him. While Springtrap does try to justify this by claiming he wants to be the one to tell his secret to Deliah, it doesn't justify anything.
- Despite feeling sorry, Springtrap still threatens Nick by squeezing his arm hard.
- Determined to get on Nick's good side, Springtrap gets extra clingy of Deliah, going to extreme levels to prove he's not a bad guy.
- At first, while happy to see Nick, Springtrap's happiness turns to anger as he realizes the only one who knew about his secret was Harry and his mother, which leads Springtrap to blame Harry for telling Nick about his secret.
- At one point, he started wondering if he should murder Deliah.
- Desperate and angered about telling Deliah his secret at the end of the summer, he decides to sneak into Harry's house later that night and break his phone, thus rendering the recording gone. However, this fails because of his inability to use modern devices. When Harry wakes up and questions him, Springtrap confronts him instantly. This leads Harry to give Springtrap a choice to tell her.
- In the Dark Ending, which is the canon one, he confrontation with Harry leads Springtrap, after thinking things through a bit, to decide to murder Deliah so he could store her soul inside him, thus making the two together forever. While Deliah does get away, the comic still ends on an inconclusive note, with Springtrap's fate unknown.
- In the Alternate Dark Ending, however, Springtrap is able to successfully kill Deliah, and places her in him for eternity.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- Unlike his canon counterpart, William Afton who was an irredeemable, selfish, sadistic, monster who killed for his goal of immortality and to satiate his bloodlust. This Springtrap is a tragic anti-villain due to his numerous sympathetic qualities.
- Despite it being very messed up, Springtrap has a genuine love for Deliah, trying to protect her no matter what even if it means murder.
- He is usually affable and polite towards people.
- He is tragic as all he wanted was a family and a friend in Deliah. He feels genuine remorse and wants to redeem himself by being a good father figure to Deliah, but decided to return to villainy in the canon Dark Ending. In the non-canon Light Ending, he implies he would've killed himself by saying he'll "go to Hell, probably" after Deliah asks him where he's going, although fortunately Harry manages to stop it.
- This includes sympathetic insecurities as he simply wants a family and to be with Deliah.
- He feels genuine remorse for his child murders.
- He has a few comedic moments, like when he, Deliah, and Harry were playing video games and Springtrap lost, in which he states he would've won if the game was Pong, or when he attempts to scare Deliah but fails.
- In the non-canon Light Ending, he redeems himself by revealing his secret to Deliah, with implications he'll get a therapist.
