That body of light is the sign of a super-dimensional life-form. Standard attacks won't work on him. He eats dimensions for lunch!
~ Dr. Eggman about Solaris.

Solaris, also known as the Sun God, and the Flame of Hope, is the overarching antagonist of Sonic the Hedgehog (2006).

He is an all-powerful and immortal sun god whose goal is to erase all existence by devouring all timelines. Throughout most of the game, he was split into two halves, Mephiles the Dark and Iblis due to temporary instability, but he eventually regains this form and attempts to continue his goal of destroying all timelines.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • He splits into Mephiles the Dark and Iblis and both would cause/attempt to cause a lot of destruction.
  • Upon returning, he sent the world into darkness.
  • His goal was to destroy the multiverse through destroying every timeline and dimension.
  • He attempts to kill Sonic, Shadow, and Silver when they try to stop him from reaching his goal.
  • While the series is filled with omnicidal maniacs, he stands out for being among the most destructive of all due to the attempted destruction of all timelines.
  • He has a clear moral agency, as Mephiles is shown to have one and since he is a physical manifestation of Solaris' mind, this would also apply to Solaris as well.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He shows no personality at all, and although Mephiles does show personality, he is a simple piece of Solaris rather than Solaris himself. Plus, considering he instantly loses any characterization when complete, he likely loses any personality upon completion.

Trivia[]

  • So far, he and Tails Nine is the only Sonic villains from the main timeline of the games, Sonic Prime, the IDW comics who is Inconsistently Heinous.
  • Some dialogue and imagery in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) implies that Solaris had caused a fire in Soleanna only to later stop it in the form of an eagle in the past, presumably to become worshipped by the city. If confirmed, this would make him Near Pure Evil or even Pure Evil.
