Solaria Butterfly is one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside Seth) of the Disney XD animated series Star vs. the Forces of Evil.

She was the 28th Queen of Mewni, who dedicated herself into eliminating all monsters in Mewni, but stood out from the rest of Butterfly family for being the most ruthless and violent towards them. She is also the mother of Eclipsa Butterfly, the maternal grandmother of Meteora Butterfly and the former superior of Mina Loveberry.

Her Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Her Heinous?[]

  • After her attempt to negotiate with the monsters failed and they attacked Mewman settlements to reclaim their territory, she declared war on all of them.
  • She created an army of Solarian warriors by using a spell on people that would greatly enhance their aggression and powers, and remove their empathy.
  • She led the Solarians as they attacked and killed a large amount of monsters and claimed their land.
  • When the monsters attacked the Cloud Kingdom in an attempt to weaken Solaria's army, she and her warriors had many of them killed. Then, she burned their bodies while celebrating their deaths.
  • She had monsters killed in a variety of cruel ways, and even wrote a guide on how to kill different types. These methods included burning them, disemboweling them, making them explode and scattering the remaining pieces of them, and slicing them apart. Although she repeatedly claimed they would be "happier" if they were dead, she was just delusional and using that as an excuse to continue killing them.
  • When she saw her daughter Eclipsa with a monster named Globgor, she was furious and threatened to kill him. This made Eclipsa cry for the rest of the day. She then arranged for Eclipsa to marry Prince Shastacan.
  • Even after the monsters retreated and the war ended, Solaria tried to work on the "Total Annihilation Spell," which would eradicate all monsters in existence. This would also threaten to destroy her allies in the Cloud Kingdom and Underworld, which were considered to be types of monsters.
  • She held a lot of responsibility for most of Mina's actions, such as leading an army of new Solarians, which nearly destroyed Mewni in their attempt to kill all monsters.

What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]

  • Although she could be controlling, she did genuinely care about Eclipsa and wanted to protect her. She would take her on missions when she was a baby but still tried to keep her safe and treated her with kindness. She even kept a drawing Eclipsa made of both of them and often took it with her, since she viewed it as one of her most valuable possessions.
    • She also cared about her wand's millhorse, Bartholomew the Brave, and respected him for his loyalty.
  • She was an extremist, since she seemed to actually want to protect her people.
  • She redeemed herself after her death. Her spirit refused to help Mina, and was furious at her for trying to kill her family. She then reconciled with Eclipsa and even showed affection towards her granddaughter, Meteora, despite her being half-monster. This showed that she realized her mistakes and became a better person.
