Ha ha ha! My chimera has been transmuted perfectly! No one can return it to normal! Be careful not to let the same thing that happened to your mother happen to it!
~ Shou Tucker bragging to Edward Elric about Nina being a chimera permanently.
That's the funny thing, I didn't have a reason. I fully understood, no matter what I did, my life would be ruined. I could either do it with the science or without. And so, I chose science to see if I could.
~ Shou Tucker to the Elric Brothers about the decision he made.

Shou Tucker is a minor antagonist from the 2003 adaptation of Fullmetal Alchemist. He tries to earn the State Alchemist license by turning his wife and daughter into chimeras an action which disgusts the main characters. He later feels remorse for his actions and tries to revive his daughter.

He was voiced in Japanese by Makoto Nagai and by Chuck Huber in the English dub.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • He turned his wife into a chimera, a fate which is considered much worse than death and which led to his wife's death. He lied to Nina that her mother went away.
  • Tucker took his daughter, Nina, and their pet dog, Alexander, and turned them into a chimera. The chimera is left in continuous pain and suffering and same fate worse than death similarly to his wife.
  • Tucker initially expresses no remorse for what he done and tries to tell Ed that what he did was not wrong.
    • During this scene, Tucker gave a psychological breaking speech to Ed by trying to compare his evil actions of turning his daughter into a chimera as the same thing as Ed and Al trying to bring their mother back to life.
    • Tucker did not care about his daughter, at first. He referred to Nina as "it". He was ecstatic with Nina as a chimera and that his experiments on her was irreversible.
    • Much like in the 2009 anime, Tucker hoped that Ed and Al did not catch on to the fact that Nina and Alexander were missing and was annoyed when Ed realized that he turned his daughter into a chimera. Tucker was hoping to show his creation to them to get praise and not get caught.
  • Although he was remorseful for turning his daughter into a chimera, throughout the series, Tucker collaborated with the Homunculi with their plans.
  • Despite the series high standards and villains who outdo him, Tucker manages to stand out due to his painful experimantations on his own family, causing them a fate worse than death, as well as his low resources in comparison.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • Unlike the manga and 2009 anime version, he feels deep remorse and regret for what he has done and tries to bring his daughter back to redeem himself, showing that a part of him still loves Nina, which is a far too defining trait for anything but Inconsistently Heinous.
  • His fate of being turned into a chimera is presented sympathetically, as he lost his grip of reality and was reduced to being a mad man, desperate to atone for his mistakes.
