The Shadowman is the overaching antagonist of the Call of Duty: Zombies storyline, serving as the main antagonist of Black Ops III, and a cameo antagonist in Black Ops 4. He is responsible for the events of the series, sending havoc across multiple dimensions using Element 115, including manipulating Ultimis Richtofen, causing him to go insane.
He was voiced by Robert Picardo.

What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- After becoming corrupt, he waged war against the other Keepers lead by Dr. Monty, and lost.
- Sent Element 115 to multiple dimensions, causing people to misuse it, start zombie outbreaks, and become genocidal (and even omnicidal) warlords. This makes him responsible of everything that happened in the series, which includes Ultimis Richtofen's crimes.
- He manipulates the Shadows of Evil crew by pressuring them into each killing someone for personal gain:
- He pretends to be a debt collector and falsies loan documents to incriminate Nero's wife. This led Nero to murder his wife in revenge and claim her life insurance to pay off the nonexistent debt.
- Knowing that a reporter had compromising photos of Jessica, he pretends to be a movie director interested in hiring her. Jessica murders the reporter to preserve her reputation.
- He pretends to be an internal affairs officer and threatens to expose Jack's corruption. This causes Jack to kill his criminal informant to hide his secrets.
- Pretends to be a journalist that besmirches Floyd's reputation and claims Floyd isn't strong enough to beat the title champion. This leads Floyd to cheat during his fight with Tony King and Floyd beats Tony King to death to secure the contender spot.
- Traps the Shadows of Evil crew in a twisted version of Morg City infested with zombies. Under the guise of helping them atone for their sins, he manipulated them into getting the Summoning Key for him by sacrificing someone close to each of them. He then used it to release the Dark Aether into Morg City. This resulted in the complete destruction of Dimension 63 and the deaths of its inhabitants.
- After being sealed inside the Summoning Key, he manipulated Primis Maxis into releasing him, and manages to free himself by switching souls with Maxis, allowing him to unleash his Apothicon army in Dr. Monty's homeworld, and planned on using it to destroy all dimensions.
- Manipulated the Warden of Alcatraz in the 63rd Dimension into trapping the Mob of the Dead crew into a purgatorial state in order to trap the Primis crew alongside them. He then had the Warden commit suicide to be reborn as Brutus and created a machine to harvest Primis Richtofen's blood to open a gateway for him and the Aphoticons.
- He is by far the most heinous villain in the Zombies series, being responsible for many genocides and omnicides across the universes.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is a generic doomsday villain that lacks significant characterization and personality due to only having a few voice lines.
- He has moral agency issues due to his mind being completely corrupted by the Aether.
