Scrappy Cornelius "Dappy" Doo is the main antagonist of the 2002 horror comedy film Scooby-Doo, the first installment of Raja Gosnell's live-action Scooby-Doo duology.
Unlike his original counterpart in the TV series, he is portrayed as Scooby-Doo's obnoxious nephew who plots to get revenge on his former friends, Mystery Inc. for abandoning him years ago, wanting to use an ancient magical relic known as the Daemon Ritus to absorb all souls in order to enslave both Spooky Island and the world with an army of demons. He is the former friend-turned-archenemy of Mystery, Inc., especially his uncle Scooby.
He was voiced by Scott Innes in his normal form and by J.P. Manoux in his monster form. In his Emile Mondavarious disguise, he was portrayed by Rowan Atkinson.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- Even before getting kicked out of the Mystery Gang, he was already a jerk, arrogantly boasting to about how he should be the gang's new leader, telling Fred that he "did not have the stroke for this job", and peeing on Daphne and lying about it being an accident.
- He trapped the real Emile Mondavarious inside a hole, and made a robotic replica of him and impersonated him for two years, under the guise of a tyrannical mastermind searching for the power to rule the world, which counts as incrimination.
- He created an entire army comprised of demons, but because they die when exposed to sunlight, he used human bodies as vessels for them to go around and terrorize others, and the way he committed this action is by removing the ectoplasms from their bodies with the daemon ritus and putting them in a cauldron where they're all trapped and cannot escape from, despite being fully aware of their fate.
- This is shown to be an extremely painful process as shown as when he temporarily removed Scooby's ectoplasm, his body laid dead, proving this to be a far from nice way to die.
- He kidnapped Scooby-Doo and manipulated him into making him think that Shaggy is not his friend, using him as a sacrifice to complete his transformation by sucking his soul out of his body.
- He attempted to kill the Mystery Gang in the climax and upon being arrested, he showed no remorse for his crimes and instead tried to insult the Mystery Gang until he was cut off by the helicopter door.
- While he is motivated by the Mystery Gang tossing him out into the desert with no means of survival outside of his suitcase, this does not justify his actions and is not played as a sympathetic moment.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is way too comedic to be even NPE and he's never taken seriously, as he is a parody of his original incarnation that was made to poke fun at how hated the original character was, not to mention his backstory is played more as a joke rather than an actual tragedy, and his defeat is being arrested in a dog cage and nearly calling the Mystery Gang sons of a bitch.
Trivia[]
- Out of the three Scooby-Doo villains who are Inconsistently Heinous (along with Morgan Moonscar and Simone Lenoir), he is the only one to come from a live-action movie.
- He is so far the only version of Scrappy to be Inconsistently Heinous.
