Wanda Maximoff, also known as Scarlet Witch and the Red Queen, is a supporting antagonist of the 2021 Disney+ animated series What If...? and the main antagonist of 2025 spin-off series Marvel Zombies.
She was a member of the Avengers and a powerful superhuman capable of producing a mythical form of magic called chaos magic. In 2018, she, like most of the fallen Avengers, became infected with a Quantum Virus that turned her into a zombie, and she was taken under care by Vision during the android's attempt to find a cure. She would later be summoned by Doctor Strange Supreme to eliminate Infinity Ultron, but she was seemingly killed alongside the zombie horde by the A.I.
She is voiced by Elizabeth Olsen, who voices her mainline MCU counterpart.
Her Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Her Heinous?[]
- She most likely has done the same crimes as her original counterpart in 2015 prior to becoming a zombie.
- After successfully corrupting Vision to the Dark Side, she feeds on people Vision sends to her direction and turns them into zombies. Although this all happened off-screen, there are clear on-screen effects since there are hundreds of zombies around Camp Lehigh.
- When the survivors recover T'Challa/Black Panther, she wakes up and prevents Okoye from killing Vision.
- She kills Kurt and supposedly kills Okoye as well, though it's later revealed that she turned her into a Zombie of Marvel Zombies.
- When the Winter Soldier tries to kill her, she deflects all of his bullets and presumably kills him by throwing him away.
- Tries to infect Bruce Banner, but then he turns into Hulk, yet she still attempts to kill him.
- Tries to kill Captain Carter and Kahhori alongside the zombies under her command as they try to stop Strange Supreme from throwing all his multiversal prisoners into the Forge to resurrect his universe.
- While she originally had moral agency issues, she eventually managed regains her full consciousness after 5 years has passed, meaning she doesn’t suffer from the them anymore and has more agency than other zombies.
- Tortures Kamala Khan/Ms Marvel by invading her mind and taunting her by mentioning Kate Bishop and Riri Williams who died when they were ambushed by zombies.
What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]
- She is far too tragic since she shares her original counterpart's tragic life, becoming infected and later corrupted into becoming a zombie and believes that she needs to kill others to survive given her undead status requiring human flesh to survive. Although one might argue she is no longer affect by these, and considering this all happened off-screen. Making them arguably minor preventions.
- She cares for Vision, mourning his death and acting attempting to kill Winter Soldier only to avenge him. When she realized that Infinity Ultron was built off of Vision's body, she stopped and was in deep shock over trying to kill her supposed boyfriend before dying. This is the only redeemed quality known for sure she never subverted.
