~ Sans to Papyrus before killing him. |
Sans the Skeleton, known as Dust Sans by fans, is the main protagonist villain of Dusttale.
He was once a comedic and lazy skeleton, but after too many different Genocide timelines, he went insane. As a result, he began killing the monsters in the Underground to gain LV, starting his own Genocide Route, in hopes of killing the human for good.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- After hundreds of Genocide timelines where everyone he loves dies, he goes insane and starts slaughtering monsters himself in hopes of having enough LV to kill Chara once and for all and stop the Genocide Runs for good.
- He convinced Toriel to let him in the Ruins so he could murder everyone in there, including Toriel herself.
- It's also implied he killed Flowey, although he most certainly deserves it.
- During his killing spree in Snowdin, he kills his own brother, Papyrus.
- He ultimately kills so many monsters he has 19 LV by the time you fight him for the final time.
- He manages to stand out due to having lower resources than Chara.
- In the alternate AU: Dustbelief, he is accidentally killed by Papyrus in self defense. This causes a devastated and guilt-ridden Papyrus to start killing other monsters to finish what he started, therefore making Sans indirectly responsible for his brother's descent into madness in that timeline.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is very tragic. He had to watch as everyone he knows dies in hundreds of timelines, which drove him to kill out of insanity and desperation.
- He's an anti-villain, as everything he does is to stop the human and prevent any more Genocide Routes.
- He showed some hesitance in killing Toriel due to their friendship before ultimately going through with the act.
- He still loves his brother Papyrus and felt deep remorse for murdering him. This is what drove him over the edge, and he began to imagine a hallucination of Papyrus that urges him to kill more.
- He redeems himself in one of the fangame's endings.
- His death in said fangame and Dustbelief is played for sympathy. In the former scenario, he tearfully realizes that he'll repeatedly kill his friends and brother over and over again without knowing it, while in the latter case he congratulates Papyrus for fighting back before dying.
- He has moral agency issues due to his insanity.
Trivia[]
- He's one of the 3 Sans to be IH along with Horror Sans and his Undertale Insanity counterpart.
