~ Roger describing himself. |
Roger Smith, also known as Roger the Alien, is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Steve Smith) of the adult animated comedy series American Dad!.
He is voiced by the show's co-creator Seth MacFarlane, who also voices Stan Smith in the same show. He also voiced Peter Griffin, Glenn Quagmire, Carter Pewterschmidt (alongside his Emperor counterpart), Darth Stewie and Adolf Hitler from Family Guy.
His Evil Ranking[]
Debated Validations[]
- He claims one of his most vile and evil personas, Mr. Dingleberry, is an alternate personality he can't control. However, given Roger's tendency to overexaggerate, this could be a lie.
- Same can be said for his most kind-hearted and good persona, Sidney Hoffman.
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- He has committed countless mass murders.
- When he was fifteen, he ate his father, minus bits of his leg which he still keeps.
- He has raped animals, aliens, adults, teens, paranormal creatures, objects and even plants.
- He once skinned Jeff alive just to get Haley's affection, and even then he did shoot her.
- As Max Jets, he repeatedly molests and sexually harasses Steve, who's only 14.
- As Jeanie Gold, he abused Steve and Haley, even having Valik, his other persona, stab Steve.
- He drowned his "girlfriend" when the house flooded became he lost interest in her.
- He repeatedly mugged Jeff by violently attacking him with a baseball bat after paying him for no reason other than taking back his money. In one attempt, he was presumably going to rape Jeff but stopped only due to time constraints.
- Multiple of his personas are con-artists and drug dealers who ruthlessly scams people, especially homeless people.
- He ruined the life of his persona Sidney Hoffman by getting Sidney fired, killing all his pigeon friends, getting his girlfriend to break up with him and finally burning down his house.
- Although Sidney was ultimately him Roger didn't know that.
- He feigned willingness to co-exist with his most kind-hearted persona (Sidney Hoffman) so he could be his sociopathic self and proceeded to stab Sidney in the back (literally) effectively killing him in Roger's perspective.
- He kissed Francine (while drunk admittedly) and when Francine tried to tell Stan for the sake of her marriage, Roger knocked Francine out, buried her alive and did the same to Stan later on.
- Stan, thinking Francine didn't tell him willingly, vented to Roger on how the divorce was going to ruin his life and his kids' lives, Roger then further manipulated Stan into going through with ruining his family all out of cowardice.
- Roger was Stan's best friend in this episode too.
- He adopted orphan children and made them work tirelessly on his wine farm, while also abusing them into obedience with shock collars.
- He burnt down Stan's lifelong dream restaurant (along with his own) just to collect the insurance money.
- He ran over 5 frat boys over 20 dollars at the end of the episode crashed into plane full of innocent civilians killing all of them.
- He mentioned that he killed 6 people over nineteen dollars just the week prior.
- Out of sheer sadism, he killed the only surviving person from the plane.
- He promised an alien he had sex with he wouldn't tell anyone they had sex (she was insecure about her virginity) and then immediately proceeded to tell everyone and make her look like a slut, to her dismay.
- He was once a Mayor of a town, and he let the water supply produce filthy water, even if he did try to stop it, it was only to get more political gain.
- In "The 200", he neglectfully caused the apocalypse by climbing into the Hadron Particle Collider during a field trip (in which he was warned not to do it), which caused a nuclear explosion. While this was an accident and he did apologize it was the most apathetic sorry for such a big thing. During the apocalypse he would use the threat of the 200 to scare other survivors. When teaming up with Stan and Greg for survival, he showed more concern about his spoon collection than the life of Greg.
- He kidnapped Avery Bullock's adopted son, AJ, and tried to drown him for breaking one of his crystal spiders.
- When he worked at a maternity ward, he killed several babies by shaking them to death.
- He recruited children at Familyland to kill others and didn't care if the children themselves got killed.
- When he asks the Smith family to give him a roast party, he ends up taking them personally (despite having requested them), then attempts to murder them all in horrifying ways, even to the point where they need to go to space to escape from him as he follows them there.
- When he thought he was "The Decider" of Earth's fate he pettily tried to have it destroyed (just because Stan called him a nobody) by his people only to come to the realization that he was merely a crush test subject.
- To make things worse he admitted the only person in the world he would miss was Francine and even that didn't stop him from trying to kill her.
- He was once a physically abusive pimp that forced women into prostitution.
- He tricked a guy into paying the costs of his guitar lessons (which were with the devil) this got the guy dragged to hell.
- He toiled with Satan's mind until it broke him mentally, psychologically, and emotionally.
- He threw Jeff into an alien ship's tractor beam just because he didn't want to go back to his home planet, this caused a lot of problems for Jeff in general.
- He was the reason Emperor Zing became a tyrant due to having sex with Zing's lover.
- While he has occasionally done good things, this is almost always done for self-serving reasons.
- While Roger may need to be a jerk in order to survive, he does way more than just verbal insults (which are shown to be enough for him to live on) and does straight up evil things needlessly with a smile on his face.
- This biological need of his only motivates him to be a jerk it doesn't interfere with his understanding of right and wrong.
- Personas like Sidney Hoffman downright disprove that he constantly needs to be awful to survive.
- While B'Thazalon the Nameless One is responsible for destroying the entire world, Roger still stands out as he has less resources than him while having more brutal and unique crimes than him.
- Not to mention he's attempted mundicide anyway.
- He tried to kill the Smith family numerous times because he was roasted by them on his birthday which he gets arrested and sent to the Bang Kwang Maximum Security Prison where it would be impossible for him to escape.
- While in confinement, Roger had managed to escape, killing 4 people and using their corpses as a raft to sail back to Langley Falls and kill the Smiths.
- While the family were in space, Roger kidnaps them all and even rapes Stan.
- During a hurricane, instead of helping Hayley and Jeff out of the flooded upside down attic, he throws them out worrying more about his wigs.
- While he was abandoned by his own species, this "tragedy" doesn't hold up one bit and becomes extremely petty over the course of the show, as proven when Roger has committed every crime imaginable just for fun, especially mass murder, rape, and abuse.
- He is almost never punished for his heinous crimes, making him a massive Karma Houdini.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- Just like with many American Dad! characters, he is on & off, and can stretch from being an anti-hero, to a full-blown hero, and then a full-blown villain. It sometimes depends on what his persona is and his relationship with the Smiths on that day. However, he is way more often evil than good when just himself.
- He is too comedic to count as Near Pure Evil, as shown through most of his crimes being played for dark comedy.
- He very occasionally feels remorse for his actions.
- He has been shown to genuinely care for the Smiths at times and considers them his family. He was even willing to allow Stan to kill him when they were cornered by the CIA. However his relationship with them is still extremely toxic, as proven by the heinous stuff that he usually does to them, often for petty reasons. He also legitimately loves his homunculus-tumour spawn Rogu, treating him like a son and trying to act like a good father to him (though his methods are debatable).
- He was once shown to have insecurities, stemming from his lack of individual identity and personality, which was treated with sympathy.
- In one episode, it is established that his species is incapable of doing any good, otherwise they would die, giving him moral agency issues.
