GARBAGE DAY!
~ Ricky's most famous quote.

Richard "Ricky" Chapman/Caldwell is a character from Silent Night, Deadly Night film series, appeared as a minor character in the first film, a villain protagonist in the second film and a main antagonist in the third film. He is a younger brother of a teenage serial killer Billy Chapman who has the same trauma as him following his parents' murders at the Christmas Eve, which starting his killing spree just like him. He also plans to get revenge on Mother Superior and killing her for abusing his brother and being the cause of his death.

He is portrayed by Eric Freeman.

His Evil Rankings[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • Repeatedly running over Eddie with a jeep to death after witnessing him tried to rape Paula, recalling the tragic day of his mother's death. Though Eddie really deserved it, he only does this for his own sadism.
  • After witnessing a loan shark named Rocco beating up a man over a debt, he beats him up and impaling him with an umbrella. Despite he deserved it for his cruel beating, Ricky only killed him out of pettiness rather than giving him a deserved fate.
  • In a movie theater, he killed a man for making noises and making fun of him.
  • Killing Chip by electrocuting him in his mouth with jumper cables and car battery.
  • Strangling his girlfriend with a broken car antennae after she declared that she hates him after he killed Chip, subverting his love towards her.
  • Murdering a policeman who tried to arrest Ricky by taking his hand and make him shoot himself.
  • After taking a gun from policeman, he starts to shoot innocent people who crossed his path, including the guy who took out a garbage whom he says "Garbage day!".
  • Shoot a person's car until it was blown up, killing the person inside.
  • When he was surrounded by the police, he tried to commit suicide by shooting himself, only for him to ran out of bullet.
  • During his imprisonment, he strangled Dr. Henry Bloom with a magnetic tape.
  • Killing a Salvation Santa before he went to Mother Superior's house.
  • Break into Mother Superior's house and decapitated her in the head with an axe, even though she deserved it for abusing Billy and turning him into a serial killer in the first place.
  • After killing Mother Superior, he tried to kill Sister Mary before he was nearly shot by a police officer.
  • Generally, he killed several people out of sheer sadism whether they were innocent or not, so he cannot be considered as a Vigilante or an Anti-Villain, but rather a delusional hypocrite.
  • Despite having comedic moments, all of them enhance his villainy, showing that his crimes and actions were taken seriously.
  • He even trumps his brother Billy in terms of heinousness due to Billy having less kills and Billy’s kills were Tamer in comparison.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He is genuinely tragic for many reasons. When he was a newborn while his brother Billy was a child, his parents were murdered by a burglar who dressed up as Santa Claus, which they ended up being orphaned as result. While living in Saint Mary's Home for Orphaned Children, he and his brother were subjected under Mother Superior's abuse for years. However, his crimes are far more heinous than his brother Billy and the fact that Ricky is cynical and obnoxious that he engages with his brother's affable nature and while Billy is completely mad, Ricky is aware of his actions and didn't even care.
  • He deeply cared for his brother Billy and his death is the reason why he wanted to get revenge on Mother Superior for her abuse and mistreatment. After being adopted by the Rosenbergs, he showed his gratitude for his adopted family and even mourned his adopted father's death.
  • Despite his bloodthirsty and psychopathic attitude, he wasn't completely harmful, as he had no problem of sparing little girl in a tricycle after bumping into him, showing his honor and standards against killing children.
  • In the third movie, he is completely insane.
