| “ | When you get a virus, you get a fever. That's the human body raising its core temperature to kill the virus. Planet Earth works the same way: global warming is the fever, mankind is the virus. We're making our planet sick. A cull is our only hope. If we don't reduce our population ourselves, there's only one of two ways this can go: the host kills the virus, or the virus kills the host. Either way, the result is the same: the virus dies. | „ |
| ~ Richmond Valentine explaining his plan. |
Richmond Valentine is the main antagonist of the 2015 action-spy film Kingsman: The Secret Service, the first installment of the Kingsman film series.
He is a wealthy man, owner of the Valentine Corporation, who attempts to wipe out a portion of humanity with his SIM cards to establish a new world order under his rule. Valentine was Gary "Eggsy" Unwin's first enemy.
He was portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson, who also played Elijah Price in the Eastrail 177 film trilogy.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- He created a SIM card capable of forcing everyone to fight against each other upon hacking their phones. His intention is to use it to commit genocide against everyone besides his rich friends.
- He tested his SIM cards in a controversial church and it caused Harry Hart to kill everyone inside.
- He shot Harry in the head after confronting him outside the church.
- While he has an aversion to violence, to the point where he vomits at the sight of blood, this isn't a mitigating factor, as he still plans on forcing billions of people to kill each other and thinks he is in the right in doing so. And in the case of his death, it was his own blood.
- While he was being truthful regarding that no harm would come to Princess Tilde, the same cannot be said for her bodyguards.
- He planted security implants with the ability to decapitate people into everyone who chose to ally with him as a precaution measure, which were eventually activated by Merlin, killing all of their victims, barring Charlie Hesketh, who instead lost his arm and vocal cords.
- Although he seemed to accept his death and complimented Eggsy after he made a cheesy one-liner, this was only because it fulfilled his fantasy of being part of a spy movie as opposed to genuine affability.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He too much of a well-intentioned extremist to be Pure Evil or Near Pure Evil, as he genuinely believed that his actions would save humanity from extinction due to overpopulation and climate change. It’s even stated that before his fall to villainy, he was a philanthropist who originally attempted to prevent this through less extreme methods, but ultimately came to the conclusion that wiping out most of humanity was the only way to save the planet.
- He genuinely cares about the his allies. While he killed Professor Arnold, he only did so with reluctance, admitting he liked Professor Arnold. As well, after Merlin blew up the heads of everyone in his bunker, he became incredibly upset and cursed the Kingsmen for killing them all. He also called out Gazelle's name when she collapsed on the ground after being poisoned by Eggsy's shoe-blade.
- He is consistently shown to be affable, even to his enemies, mostly shown through his interactions with Harry where he opens up about his childhood dreams of being a spy, and when Eggsy defeats him, where he compliments his one-liner and seems to take his defeat well.
Trivia[]
- He is the only Kingsman character to be Inconsistently Heinous so far.
- He is the second Inconsistently Heinous character portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson.
