You really think you can stop me like this? You really think you stand a chance here?
~ Red Skull

Red Skull is a major antagonist in the Ultimate Marvel universe. He is a criminal responsible for terrible atrocities just like his other incarnations, but unlike them, here, he is the the son of Captain America.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • Killed all the doctors and soldiers at the facility he grew up in when he was just a kid.
  • Had John F. Kennedy assassinated.
  • He has committed many atrocities throughout his life, including war crimes in Vietnam and Afghanistan, drug-running and working alongside brutal dictators like Idi Amin and Pol Pot.
  • Forced Red Wasp to choose between killing her own husband with just a pair of scissors or Skull would kill her baby. After she chose the former, he murdered the baby anyway and let his men gang rape her.
  • Not only does he taunt her about this, he openly threatens to rape her again at one point.
  • Brutally beat and nearly killed Captain America in his fight.
  • Had his men kill the commanding officer of A.I.M in Alaska to put himself in charge.
    • In this scene, he claims that several horrible things he did were for fun.
  • Had his men cannibalize each other as a show of power after he found the Cosmic Cube.
  • Tortured Black Widow and tried to kill Captain America.
  • Although he does have a tragedy of having his father (Captain America) leave him behind in a camp this "tragedy" doesn't hold up obviously not only cause it's invalidated by his actions but since he killed all the doctors and soldiers in the facility it's very likely he would've already have been a bad person even if his dad never left him behind.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • While definitely doesn't make him tragic, his father, Captain America, leaving him behind as a child in a camp is played for sympathy by the story although it doesn't justify his actions.
  • He shows a lot of remorse for his actions shortly before his death and he tried to rewrite reality, so that his father wouldn't leave him behind and so that he wouldn't become a monster, which technically would have erased all his crimes from history.

Trivia[]

  • Despite being Inconsistently Heinous due to being considered one of the most sympathetic versions of Red Skull thanks to his tragic background, the Ultimate Marvel version of Red Skull arguably commits the worst crime any other portrayal of the character has ever done: having the Red Wasp gang raped after forcing her to kill her husband yet murdering their infant son via defenestration even though she did what Red Skull told her to do.
    • This particular act was enough for many readers to agree that the Ultimate Red Skull would have been Pure Evil had the writers not played him for sympathy in his final appearance, in which he finally explained his motives to use the Cosmic Cube to save his father from being frozen to ensure he could have a happy life with his parents.
    • Also, many people refuse to sympathize with or even like Red Skull, thinking his atrocious crimes far outweigh his tragedy, especially the Red Wasp gang rape scene which many say devolves into pure shock value, and the massacre in the facility back when he was a child undermining any sympathy he deserves.
