I regret everything, sweetheart.
~ Rampage to Blackarachnia
Depth Charge: I have no time for you, X.
Rampage: Like you had no time for Starbase Rugby? You had friends there, as I recall. Tasty ones too.
~ Rampage sadistically taunting Depth Charge during their final battle

Rampage is a major antagonist of the 1996 CGI animated sci-fi show Beast Wars: Transformers. He was a Maximal created by the Maximal Elders in order to replicate Starscream's immortal spark, who due to the pain and trauma inflicted on him, went mad and became a twisted and sadistic maniac and inflicting pain to others to cope up with his own. Upon wiping out the entire colony of Omicron, Rampage was imprisoned in the Ark, much to the fury of Depth Charge, the sole survivor of his massacre. He is Depth Charge's archenemy.

He was voiced by the late Campbell Lane.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • Upon going mad from the experiments, Rampage massacres the entire Maximal colony of Omicron wiping out the entire colony with the sole exception of Depth Charge, killing thousands of people as a result. Considering Megatron's high kill count ends up reversed by the end of Beast Machines, Rampage has the highest kill count in the entire Beast era.
    • Rampage also frequently taunts Depth Charge about the massacre of his people, even admitting he ate some of his friends in Starbase Rugby, making him a cannibal. The only one to even be a cannibal is Tarantulas.
    • While the massacre doesn't happen onscreen, considering this being Depth Charge's main motivation for being involved in the plot of Beast Wars itself would show it still has clear story impact.
  • Assists Megatron in his attempt to wipe out humanity from existence by razing the valley humanity will emerge from and wiping out their ancestors, the anthropoids/proto-humans.
  • Upon seeing Silverbolt's rage at Blackarachnia's temporary death on the hands of Tarantulas, Rampage sadistically attempts to kill him to deepen his pain.
  • Assists Megatron in gaining control of the ark to destroy the proto-human civilization and the Ark (which would wipe out most the Cybertronian population from existence) by personally attempting to stop Depth Charge from trying to destroy it before it happens.
    • On doing so, Rampage outright laughs and gaudes Depth Charge to kill him in a way that will kill them both, indirectly killing the sole survivor of his massacre on Omicron.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He is a fairly tragic villain. He was created solely to be used as a test subject for horrific experiments, causing a lot of pain towards him and causing him to go insane. Whatever vile acts Rampage does is to cope up with the immense pain he has felt. Then later, he was forced to serve Megatron and is enslaved by him when Megatron cuts off half his spark and places it on a vice to torture him to submission.
  • To add to this even more, Rampage himself admits to Blackarachnia he has regretted everything he has done and it may even be the reason why outright laughs when Depth Charge tries to kill him as he is an implied Death Seeker as a result of all of this.
  • As a combination of both the first 2 factors, Rampage ends up as a scapegoat.
  • He deeply cares for Transmutate upon empathizing with her status as a freak and seeing himself in her, having even convinced Megatron to give her a chance to prove herself to save her life and was heartbroken when accidentally killing her.

Trivia[]

  • Both he and Tankor alongside the Japanese versions of G1 Megatron and BW Megatron to be the only villains from the Beast era, and the Generation One continuity as a whole, to be Inconsistently Heinous.
  • He don't count in the Japanese Generation One Continuity due to it having a much higher heinous standard than the USA series.
