Queen Sectonia is the main antagonist of Kirby Triple Deluxe.
She is the Queen of Floralia, an island kingdom that is located above Dreamland (Kirby's home). She also appears as a clone in Planet Robobot and cameos in Star Allies. She was the one Taranza was working for.
Queen Sectonia was voiced by Makiko Ohmoto who also voices Susie and Kirby himself.
Her Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Her Heinous?[]
- She was a very cruel ruler of Floralia, to the point where the citizens sent a seed filled with their hopes and dreams to summon the hero from the surface to come liberate them.
- When she figured out their plan, she sent Taranza to kidnap the hero the Dreamstalk summoned, which resulted in him kidnapping King Dedede by mistake. This makes her indirectly responsible for every evil act he does throughout the game. Though aside from kidnapping and brainwashing Dedede, all he really does is use his magic to create people to fight Kirby.
- It is shown in the last stage of Royal Road that she had several citizens unfairly imprisoned, likely for trying summon the hero of Dream Land.
- Despite his devotion and loyalty to her, she held no gratitude towards Taranza, blasting him away when he asked for help to beat Kirby and deeming him a fool for failing to carry out her orders. This also proves she had zero regard for any life besides her own and is more than willing to kill anyone on whim, regardless of their relationship.
- After Kirby defeats her the first time, she fuses with the Dreamstalk, blooming into a giant planet-encompassing flower to absorb the life force of every living being in order to gain immortality for herself. This would eventually destroy all life on Floralia, Dream Land, and Planet Popstar and kill everyone on it, yet she showed no regards for any of the lives that would be lost, including her own subjects.
- After her second defeat by Kirby, she caught him in one of her vines and attempted to squeeze him to death, which would have killed him if Dedede and a reformed Taranza hadn't arrived.
- Although it’s worth noting she had more resources than Fecto Elfilis who attempted crimes which would cause similar results with less to personally gain, she still likewise manages to stand out due to her unique approach.
- She was extremely arrogant and obsessed with beauty. In fact, she actually used magic to alter her appearance to become more beautiful, as her original form is seen in the next game, Planet Robobot, where it resembles Taranza. While the mode she appears in is non-canon, this was confirmed to be what she looked like before she got the mirror. She believed beauty should be rewarded and she is a goddess and superior to everyone else due to her beauty.
- She apparently was somewhat like this even with her original personality however, she wasn't narcissistic or maniacal.
- Unlike most other villains in the franchise, she is taken completely seriously with no comedic moments.
What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]
- She has a genuinely tragic backstory, being that she was corrupted into being evil by the Mirror Portal, gifted to her by someone she loved, who had no idea about the Mirrors power. Her death is also played for sympathy. This is enough to prevent her from being PE or even NPE.
- It's also heavily implied that Dark Meta Knight was the one who caused this corruption (instead of the mirror itself). If this is true, it would make her a villain by proxy.
- While Sectonia is never shown before she turned evil, given Taranza's attempts to save her it's clear the two were friends before she was corrupted. She was also stated to be fair and kind as a queen before this.
- She shows some extent of respect for Kirby, viewing him as a formidable enemy, even though she tries to kill him.
- She is a scapegoat, as not only was her descent into evil due to negative circumstance, her demise is vividly shown for sympathy. It’s also worthy to note the exceptional brutality of such compared to Kirby’s other adversaries.
