“ | Love is a lie. It is a trick played by the cruel on the foolish and the weak, poisoning your mind. Never let it render you frail of mind or will because in my kingdom there is but one law - do not love! It's a sin and I'll not forgive it. | „ |

Freya is the central antagonist turned supporting character of the 2016 film The Huntsman: Winter's War. Her siblings are Queen Ravenna and huntsman Finn.
She was portrayed by Emily Blunt in her first villainous role.
Her Evil Ranking[]
What makes her heinous?[]
- She had a secret affair with the Duke of Blackwood, Andrew who she planned to marry in secret.
- When she finds out her daughter was killed by Andrew, the kid's father, Freya kills her lover in grief by turning him into ice and then breaking him, seemingly on accident as she just unleashed her new powers.
- After this Freya leaves the kingdom to start and conquer her own by building a castle made of ice and commanding her new army, making her lose most emotions and humanity.
- Rules over her kingdom under the rule that “love is a lie”.
- She causes genocides in neighboring villages murdering all the adults and burning the buildings down and kidnaps the children which include the protagonist Eric and deuteragonist Sara.
- Frost burns a boy named Tull because he misses his parents.
- Forces the children to become huntsmen which is basically making child soldiers.
- She lives like this for more than a decade or two, raiding villages and taking in new children, and winning wars on top.
- When she discovers Eric & Sara’s romance she accuses them of betrayal and says that she’ll set them free if they win in an unfair fight with their comrades.
- When they win Freya makes an ice wall separating the duo, which creates an illusion for Eric that he sees Tull stab Sara, while Sara watches Eric run away and abandon her which again shows it’s unfair.
- She commands the huntsmen to dump an unconscious Eric into the river and imprisons Sara.
- 7 years later, she orders her huntsmen to find the stolen Magic Mirror and plans to obtain it to use its power to 'free' every child in the world and turn them all into huntsmen.
- After Eric, Sara and the rest of their group find the Mirror, Freya herself makes an appearance with her huntsmen revealing that Sara was a spy.
- Freezes two dwarves.
- Order’s her huntsmen to take the mirror while ordering Sara to kill Eric with a bow, which she does but Sara shoots the necklace around his throat allowing him to live.
- Resurrects Ravenna back in her castle and Ravenna plans on taking over the kingdom and kill Snow White using Freya’s Huntsmen, which Freya reluctantly agrees to.
- Orders Eric and Sara’s execution for betrayal by the other Huntsmen.
- Forces Ravenna to show what happened to her daughter & Andrew, which turns Freya to turn against her.
- Tries to turn Ravenna into ice by hugging her, but Ravenna stabs her, mortally wounding Freya.
- Freya while dying uses the last of her powers to freeze the mirror which gets destroyed killing Ravenna.
What makes her inconsistent?[]
- She is tragic as her daughter was killed by the “man” she loved only for her to accidentally kill him with her new ice powers in grief-fueled rage and lived on for more than 20 years thinking that he killed her but it was Ravenna all along.
- She loved her daughter and her fiancé Andrew and was heartbroken by her daughter’s death.
- She loved her sister Ravenna and was saddened by her betrayal which turned Freya to turn against Ravenna.
- She has some standards against killing children as when she hunted down villages and killed their parents, she took in their children as their own and raised them to be huntsmen.
- She also shows twisted care about her Huntsmen too as she stopped Ravenna from killing them by shielding them with an ice wall even if the huntsmen started a rebellion against her and her sister.
- She redeems herself in the end by helping kill Ravenna before Freya herself dies.
