President Haltmann is the main antagonist of the 2016 videogame Kirby: Planet Robobot. He is the former CEO of the Haltmann Works Company and enemy to Kirby. He was once a loving father who lost his daughter Susanna in an accident where she went missing, and decided to power Star Dream to bring her back and forgot her in the process, and was unaware she came back under the name Susie and became his secretary in the process. He later mechanized dozens of planets before coming across Popstar where Kirby eventually stopped him and caused him to indirectly be killed by Star Dream.
He was voiced by Mugihito.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- When he lost his daughter to an accident when she vanished and tried to bring her back he mechanized planets and stole their resources to power Star Dream in order to bring her back, but ends up losing his memories of her in the process.
- He enslaved and mechanized presumably dozens of planets and stole their resources and mechanized the planet and their inhabitants, as well as enslaving their inhabitants.
- After coming across Popstar and mechanizing it, he destroyed King Dedede's castle and Meta Knight's battle ship the Halberd in the process.
- He also brainwashes Meta Knight into Mecha Knight and later Mech Knight+ to defeat Kirby and stop him from coming to his office.
- When Kirby makes it to his office, after fighting Mecha Knight+, Susie tries to do something severe, but he ends up telling her to go. He then ends up fighting Kirby and looses to him, only for him to get angry and ends up trying to activate Star Dream to eradicate all the natives of Popstar, only for Susie to snatch the control helmet off his head and ends up accidentally having him possessed by Star Dream when it became aware and decided it wants to destroy all organic life. It flies off into space along with Haltmann before being defeated by Kirby and ends up vaporizing Haltmann's body killing him in the process.
- While the Kirby franchise has extremely high heinous standards, Haltmann managed to stand out with his crime of mechanizing several planets being unique to him. It also helps him that he has lower resources than some of the other heinous villains.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- The biggest reason is he is far too tragic, as he lost his daughter in an accident when she vanished and all memories of her over the years, before pursuing the goal of activating Star Dream to bring her back and became insane having done so. This makes him easily the most tragic character in the Kirby series, even more so than Queen Sectonia or even the Three Mage Sisters, because he lost his daughter and did all he could to bring her back.
- Adding to this tragedy, he did eventually succeed in reuniting with his daughter, but due to having lost his memories, he could no longer recognize who Susie even was.
- By the time he finally regained his memories, his soul was already being painfully assimilated & deleted by Star Dream.
- Adding to this tragedy, he did eventually succeed in reuniting with his daughter, but due to having lost his memories, he could no longer recognize who Susie even was.
- He may have massive moral agency issues due to becoming insane after having used Star Dream one too many times.
- He genuinely cared for his daughter, Susie and tried to bring her back using Star Dream, but forgot her in the process.
- Even when disregarding his tragic backstory, Haltmann becomes a massive scapegoat by the time of the climax due to him having one of the most horrendous deaths of the Kirby franchise: After Star Dream assimilates his body, he's consciously being aware of what's going on but unable to do anything about it and every time Kirby destroys one of Star Dream Soul OS's core's energy pillars, Haltmann can be heard screaming out in agony, and he also released one last scream which slowly distorts once Star Dream Soul OS is defeated. Further adding to this, the pause menu states that he finally remembers his daughter as his soul gets slowly and painfully deleted. It all gets to the point where his death feels like an outright mercy kill.
