Oscar, also known as Mr. Jester, is the main antagonist of the Smiling Friends episode "The Magical Red Jewel (aka Tyler Gets Fired)." He is the ruler of Spamtomia.

He is voiced by text-to-speech, particularly TruVoice Adult Male #1.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • For a long time, he ruled Spamtopia with a clear rule against looking anyone in the eyes, violation of which meaning deathly punishment.
  • Upon noticing that Pim and Mr. Boss accidentally looked into his eye, he immediately had them bound so he could execute them.
  • He brutally executed at least two people for the trivial crime of looking him in the eye by painfully tearing their bodies in half.
    • Given he had ruled over Spamtopia presumably for a time long preceding the events of the episode, it is quite likely others who violated the rule faced the same fate.
  • His actions horrified Mr. Boss and Pim to the point the former not only contemplated suicide, but also tried to enforce it on Pim through means of shared cyanide pills.
    • Although Oscar did not know about such, the means of enforced suicide by proxy are nonetheless exclusive for him. [1]
  • He made fun of Pim's eyes despite being heavily insecure about his own, prompting his denizens to laugh at Pim much to his brief disgruntlement.
  • He ended all rules in Spamtopia, which caused the country to devolve into complete societal anarchy and also destroyed the very fabric of reality itself, resulting in a chaotic and glitchy catastrophe.
  • Although the series heinous standards are high, Oscar managed to stand out with the means of brutal execution and magnitude of the horrific impacts of his actions being unique to him.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • Because Smiling Friends is a black comedy, the consequences of his actions are not taken as seriously, and he is mostly played for absurdist or dark humor. Examples are:
    • He wore a jester hat in his first appearance, but constantly switches out his hat depending on his role or mood.
    • He speaks with a monotone text-to-speech program, and pronounces the word "eye" peculiarly.
      • He also spoke in complete gibberish when speaking Spamish, but then suddenly transitioned to English after Pim looked him in the eye.
    • When Pim asked to speak to the leader of Spamtopia, he simply said "ok" before swapping his executioner hood for his crown, revealing himself as the leader.
    • He randomly kissed Mr. Boss on the mouth.
  • He was initially insecure about having a large eye for a head, which is what prompted him to create the "no eye contact" rule in the first place. He also made it very clear not to break this rule, even incorporating it into the Spamtopian national anthem, and would only punish those who violated it.
  • After being revealed as Pim's only penpal, Oscar immediately began to act affable and friendly to him. He felt grateful to Pim since his letters had helped him to get ahead of his rough years with his insecurities of having a large eye and thanked him for showing him the error of his ways.
    • He also freed Pim and Mr. Boss from execution and handed the Magical Red Jewel to them for making him feel better about his eye, showing his honorable and generous side.
      • Before Pim and Mr. Boss looked him in the eye, he also reached for the jewel after the boss paid him, further proving he is firmly willing to honor his end of a deal.
  • While it had catastrophic consequences, the intention of ending all rules in Spamtopia was supposed to liberate the population after Oscar realized the error of his ways.
