I am Order itself. A consciousness generated from the processes of many who yearn for stability. I am now fully realized. I therefore have no further use for a host vessel. All things...will be converted to memory.
~ Order introducing itself.
A perfect world is a stable world. It has no need for change. For variation. It has no need for desire. For conflict. In this world, none desire what might be. They embrace what is. Their lives are peaceful ones. I will achieve a quiet and peaceful world. Reasons to oppose this include: ... ERROR: no reasons found.
~ Order plotting to create an orderly world.

Order is the titular main antagonist of Splatoon 3: Side Order. It is an entity of pure order created by Marina that runs the entire Memverse, capable of sucking people's minds inside and draining their free will.

While initially only intended to help manage the Memverse's programs, Order began taking Marina's desire for peace and order to the extreme, deciding that all individuality must cease if there is to be stagnation and complete control. As such, it would suck the minds of its creator, Pearl, Acht, Agent 8 and hundreds of other people into the Memverse, hoping to gain enough power to place all life on Earth under its thrall.

It’s Evil Ranking[]

What Makes It Heinous?[]

  • After breaking free of its initial programming, it took over the entire Memeverse, then brainwashing Marina into becoming it’s pawn, and then forcefully connecting many people’s minds into the system as well. It’s also revealed that it planned to ‘Greyscale’ every single being on the planet, and turn them into mindless essentially zombie like beings who only follow it’s orders, and in other words cause every creature on Earth to lose their free will. It’s also, worth mentioning that as Marina rightly points out, that ‘Greyscaling’ every creature on Earth would lead to the end of life as we know it. It’s also, aware of this, as Order itself acknowledges that the World will be a ‘very quiet, and peaceful place’ once it’s done what it needs to do, even though it would be the complete opposite of peaceful for anyone but itself.
  • Attempted to kill Agent 8, and Pearl while controlling Marina. After being defeated for the first time, it pushed all 3 of its enemies out of the building, and then taking said building over afterward.
  • Tried to murder the heroes one more time, when they tried to stop it from ‘Greyscaling’ the entire Planet. With it, even successfully ‘Greyscaling’ Agent 8, until he/she was bought back by Marina’s music.
  • At first during rematches, it still tries to kill the heroes, but always fails. Though to be fair, it stops its genuine attempts on Agent 8 life towards the end of their 12 rematches, and ends up genuinely warming up to him/her, and is genuinely truthful when explaining why it went awol, and did everything it did.
  • While it’s Moral Agency may seem questionable at first, especially due to it’s initial programming of bringing order to the world no matter the cost, it still willingly betrayed it’s creator just for it’s own selfish desire for control, which does prove that Order has a Moral Agency.
  • While Mr. Grizz is worse due to his killing of infants, he has more resources than Order, who is simply a virtual being in a VR World, with only it’s own powers to it’s advantage, and not both powers, and a whole loyal company/army like Grizz.
  • While it does have some comedic moments like losing control of it’s tentacles, and talking like a baby, they don’t detract from its villainy, and its crimes are taken 100% seriously.

What Makes It Inconsistent?[]

  • Despite it’s delusional ways, and going too far to be called an anti-villain, Order is still a somewhat well intentioned extremist, as it is genuinely disgusted by all of the flaws of Sea-life, and does genuinely want to make a positive change, and somewhat provide Worldwide peace (despite it being the only one that would actually benefit, which does make it slightly selfish at the same time), despite it’s crimes.
  • The scene where it breaks down crying after losing one of the 12 rematches against Agent 8, is somewhat played for sympathy, as Pearl, Marina, and Acht pity it, with the latter two even saying it to be a worthy opponent (despite being easy to defeat by this point) just to cheer Order up.
  • It eventually decides to redeem itself, after both seeing the flaws in it’s plan, and growing to genuinely enjoy Agent 8's company during all of their rematches, with it admitting that it wants to help fix the lives that it initially ruined, and make up for all the crimes it committed by serving its original purpose and getting memories back to sanitized octolings. Even before its redemption, Order still questions whether it was going too far with its extremism, and admits that it went too far.
