Pathetic. After you left the future, and after Old Wallace kicked me out, I began my training. For 10 years, I did nothing but study all of your skills, your strengths, your weaknesses, because there's only one way to end this: ME VS THE WORLD! I have to destroy all of you!
~ Even Older Scott explaining his intentions.
You immediately assume I messed up! But I’m a good husband! I do the dishes, I walk the cats, I make the spaghettis. And I won’t take you back to the past until I know for a fact that you won’t date Ramona Flowers. Because she is the one who’s bad news! NOT US!
~ Older Scott's rant to his younger self, while also revealing his true colors
Wait, uh, uh, me? Wait, who, uh, no, no, no, no, wait, wait, b-b... (sent back to the future) Awww, well this is great, not!
~ Older Scott's final words after being set back to the future by Super Ramona.

Scott Pilgrim, also known as Older Scott and later as Even Older Scott, is the main antagonist of the 2023 Netflix anime Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, a reimagining of the Scott Pilgrim comics by Bryan Lee O'Malley.

He is an alternate reality version of Scott Pilgrim who married Ramona Flowers after successfully defeating the League of Evil Exes, but they would later separate after an unspecified incident. Broken, Older Scott decides to make sure his past self never dates Ramona.

He was voiced by Will Forte in the original English version and by Fumihiko Tachiki (whom also voiced Gendo Ikari from Neon Genesis Evangelion) in the Japanese dub.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

In General[]

  • Although he was initially very kind to his younger self and claimed to only have his best interests in mind, he later subverts this by almost sabotaging Scott and Ramona's relationship out of spite, kidnapping them and their friends, and attempting to kill them.

Series[]

  • Controlling Robot-01’s past self, he created a vegan time portal to drag younger Scott into his own timeline while faking his death by making it appear that Matthew Patel successfully defeated Scott Pilgrim in battle.
  • He attempted to force Scott to stay in the future until he made sure the latter wouldn’t date Ramona again.
  • To further ensure Scott wouldn’t date Ramona, he tricked him into having a drink filled with nanorobots that created a force field between Scott and Ramona every time they tried to kiss.
  • Upon realizing present-day Scott and Ramona end up together anyways, he spent the next 10 years training to become all-powerful to be able to defeat his younger self.
  • He teleports Ramona, Scott, his friends, the League of Evil Exes and Julie Powers into a blank subspace, intending to destroy all of them with his new powers.
  • Brutally beating down Scott, to the point where he coughs up blood, as payback for the latter getting close to Ramona again.
  • Taunts his younger self about being unable to kiss Ramona.
  • When Gideon Graves interrupts him and demands him to be returned to the theatre, Older Scott refuses to do so and proceeds to use his telekinesis to strangle him.
  • As he was about to beat Scott again, Ramona gets in the way and stops him with her large hammer. Older Scott answers by hitting Ramona’s hammer so hard it breaks.
  • Brutally punching both Scott and Knives when they fight him.
  • After Matthew, Roxie, Lucas and Todd fought and tried to defeat him, Older Scott proceeds to beat down all of them with his punches.
  • He hits Robot-01 so hard it sends a big shockwave that managed to defeat the Katayanagi Twins in the process.
  • He deflects Gideon Graves’ energy beam and sends it back to him, the League and Scott’s friends, forcing them to create a force field to protect themselves from the beams, which also manages to return them to the theatre.
    • Part of that energy beam he used to attack was absorbed by Ramona’s subspace suitcase, which destroyed the suitcase due to the beam being too much for the suitcase to handle.
  • He engaged his younger self in another battle where Older Scott again beats him up, justifying himself with the 10 years he spent alone training and refusing to let Scott make his own decisions.
  • All his actions and his conflict with younger Scott caused Ramona to question herself if she really wants to date Scott, making Older Scott responsible for Ramona nearly breaking up with Scott, something that was thankfully stopped by a recently arrived Future Ramona.
  • Before the arrival of Future Ramona, Older Scott could be seen preparing to kill present-day Ramona.
  • After being confronted by Future Ramona for his behavior, he starts berating both Ramonas about how they always escaped from their problems, which is hypocritical on his part as he himself is no better.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He’a sympathetic and suffers from insecurities regarding his confidence and self-worth, believing that he wasn't good enough for Ramona, and that's why she left him.
  • He cares deeply about a few people.
    • He genuinely loved Ramona and was hurt when he misinterpreted her needing space as them breaking up.
    • He's shown to still be close friends with Wallace even many years in the future. Although, Wallace later kicks him out for unknown reasons.
    • He also befriended the Katayanagi Twins, whom he formed a band with.
  • He is too comedic to be Pure Evil or Near Pure Evil. The entire purpose of his character is to be an evil parody of Scott Pilgrim (a character who's traditionally portrayed as a hero) and as such, he's rarely taken seriously by the narrative. The only time the story treats him as a legitimate threat is when he kidnaps Scott, Ramona, and their friends, then attempts to kill them. But even then, his over-the-top mannerisms, goofy design, and comedic defeat distract from his villainy.

Trivia[]

  • He is the only Scott Pilgrim villain to be Inconsistently Heinous, and ironically is a version of Scott Pilgrim, the main protagonist of the series, who is Near Pure Good.
