His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- Brutally killed the Kiri Ninja after watching Rin get impaled by Kakashi.
- While he was manipulated by Madara Uchiha and Black Zetsu, Obito chose to defect from the Hidden Leaf Village to build up the terrorist organization, the Akatsuki.
- He manipulated Nagato with Madara's teachings of using the darkness in people's hearts. The extent of his manipulation led to transforming the Akatsuki from a peaceful revolutionary organization into a terrorist organization.
- He infiltrated the Hidden Leaf Village on the night of Naruto's birth. He killed Kushina's midwife and took the baby Naruto hostage and threatened to kill him if Minato, his mentor, got in his way of getting Kurama from Kushina.
- He extracted Kurama from Kushina and used his sharingan to have Kurama go on a rampage in the village and kill multiple innocents. At one point, he has the brainwashed Kurama use a Tailed Beast Ball in an attempt to kill Minato, which caused multiple deaths and damages across the village.
- In addition, the attack had the potential of destroying the entire village and killing everyone had Minato not stopped the attack.
- Due to his actions, it resulted in Minato and Kushina performing a heroic sacrifice to protect Naruto. As a result, Naruto grew up as an orphan and was largely hated by the village for Kurama's rampage.
- He killed multiple people during Itachi's mission, including Itachi's teammate. When Itachi's friend at the time, Tenma, tried to stop Obito, he killed him in front of Itachi. Devastated over witnessing the loss of his friend, Itachi awakened the Sharingan.
- His actions will also make the Uchiha Clan prime suspects for Kurama's rampage, leading to the Uchiha Clan's growing resentment towards Konoha and sowing the seeds for their attempted coup as well as the Uchiha Clan Massacre.
- He participated in the Uchiha Clan massacre with Itachi Uchiha. He was seen slaughtering multiple people in the Konoha Military Police Force. The act of the massacre would lead Sasuke to become a vengeful Shinobi.
- He placed the Fourth Mizukage, Yagura, under a genjutsu to enforce a dystopian rule of the Mist Village, which resulted in multiple deaths.
- In the anime, it was revealed that Obito killed Nagato's closest allies as he was trying to manipulate him.
- He led the Akatsuki in capturing the jinchuuriki to seal away their tailed beasts. As a result, he was responsible for the deaths of all the jinchuuriki (including Gaara, who was revived by Chiyo at the cost of her own life).
- Under Madara's guidance, he manipulated the hearts of those around him, including the Akatsuki and Sasuke Uchiha, to carry out his plans.
- He told Sasuke about the truth of the Uchiha clan massacre and used that opportunity to use Sasuke as his pawn in the Akatsuki.
- Enjoyed seeing Sasuke embrace his dark and evil impulses. During Sasuke's fight with Danzo, he was seen grinning under his mask when Sasuke impaled Karin (Sasuke's close subordinate) to try and kill Danzo.
- He consistently lied to everyone that he was Madara Uchiha while he wore his masks. He wanted to use Madara's name to put fear into the ninja world.
- While Madara remained dead, he decided to try and take over the Eye of the Moon Plan for himself and did not intend to revive Madara as part of his plan. Although Madara did ruin his life by orchestrating Rin's suicide by Kakashi's hands, Obito didn't know that earlier.
- He declared the Fourth Ninja World War on the Kage during the Kage Summit. The war would go down as one of the most disastrous world wars with over 100,000 casualties.
- He confronts Danzo Shimura, Fu, and Torune. While confronting them, he fought against Fu and Torune where he managed to capture both of them and have them placed under a genjutsu.
- He fought against Konan and killed her to try and retrieve the rinnegan from Nagato's corpse. Before killing Konan, he told her that her ideas of a peaceful world would be plunged into darkness and that there would be no hope.
- He murdered Torune by breaking his neck to have Kabuto use Fu as a live sacrifice for the Impure World Reincarnation technique. He was interested in seeing how the Impure World Reincarnation technique work.
- He summoned the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path on the First Division Army and had it go on a rampage. He used the statue's rampage as an opportunity to retrieve Kinkaku and Ginkaku (both of whom had traces of the Kurama's chakra), which led to many deaths.
- He used the undead jinchuuriki that he was responsible for killing as brainwashed puppets to fight against Naruto, Killer B, Kakashi, and Might Guy.
- On the second night of the war, he initiate the Ten-Tails revival by having Kinkaku and Ginkaku fed to the Demonic Statue. Both brothers were sealed in the Kohaku no Johei and Benihisago so that the statue can have the Nine-Tails chakra needed for its revival. He was aware the Gold and Silver Brothers were sealed away and had them sacrificed. While he was unaware that Samui and Atsui were also sealed inside the Benihisago, he is responsible for having them sacrificed for the revival of the Ten-Tails.
- Before and after his mask was broken by Naruto, Obito makes remarks intended to sully Naruto's morale and resolve as a ninja. After his mask is broken and his identity revealed, Obito actively attempts to break Naruto's resolve even further when he realizes that Naruto reminds him of his former self. He also admits to Kakashi that he is aware of what Naruto reminds him of and was trying to break Naruto's resolve to prove his point is right and that the world needs to be placed in the Infinite Tsukyomi.
- After his mask was broken by Naruto and his identity was revealed, he scoffed at Kakashi about his reasons for his turn to villainy and tried to murder him during the war by beating him before slashing him in the torso with two fuma shuriken.
- He successfully revived the Ten-Tails and used it to try and kill off many people in the Allied Shinobi army, which resulted in hundreds of deaths.
- Used the Ten-Tails to kill multiple people, including Shikaku Nara, most of the people in the Allied Forces HQ, and Neji Hyuga.
- He used the Ten-Tails to launch a powerful Tailed Beast Ball at a village destroying it and killing numerous individuals.
- Tried to make Naruto despair during the war after killing Neji and attempted to psychologically manipulate him, and almost succeeded if not for Hinata's intervention.
- After becoming the Ten-Tails jinchuuriki, he launched a powerful Tailed Beast Ball attack against the entire Shinobi Alliance while sealing them in a barrier to prevent their escape. He nearly killed the entire army if it were not for Naruto and the Hokage intervention.
- As the Ten-Tails jinchuuriki, he murdered hundreds of people with his power and was nearly successful with implementing the Infinite Tsukyomi on the entire world.
- Despite having comedic moments, it was only to obfuscate his true identity as the shadow leader of the Akatsuki and subvert them after he revealed his status.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He had an extremely tragic upbringing where he was an orphan trying to grow up during wartimes in the Hidden Leaf Village. And during the Third Ninja War, he was founded by Madara Uchiha while he treated his injuries, but was also manipulated by him. By Madara's design, he was forced to witness Rin commit suicide by having Kakashi kill her in front of him. This event drove him to complete despair and losing all hope in the ninja world, as well as molded him into the perfect pawn to Madara.
- He genuinely loved Rin and cared for his teammates and village.
- He is shown to have clear standards, as during the Third Ninja War, he was adamant about saving Rin from the Hidden Stone ninja. When Kakashi insisted on leaving Rin behind to complete the mission, he firmly reminded Kakashi that those who abandon their friends are worse than trash and encouraged Kakashi to go along with him to rescue Rin, paving Kakashi's heroic nature for the rest of the manga.
- During the Fourth Great Ninja War, he became too conflicted over his actions after seeing Naruto defiantly stand up to him and his nihilistic world views. After some consideration, he decided to accept Naruto's offer at redemption, and he also does a lot of admirable acts, for example:
- He allowed the Allied Shinobi forces to extract the Ten-Tails from his body.
- After having a conversation with Kakashi and Minato, Obito attempted to revive the people who died during the war he started via Rinne Tensei.
- He fearlessly stood up to Madara and tried to stop him during the war.
- He saved Naruto's life during the war by taking the other half of Kurama's chakra from Black Zetsu and sealing it into his body.
- After regaining his consciousness during his encounter with Madara, Obito actively helped Team 7 in their battle against Kaguya Ōtsutsuki and Black Zetsu. He also helped reunite Sasuke with Team 7 during the battle and even sacrificed himself to save Naruto and Kakashi from Kaguya's bone-killing attack.
- He returned as a spirit to temporarily help Kakashi and Team 7 in their battle against Kaguya. Through his efforts, he was able to support Team 7 in defeating Kaguya and saving the world. Before leaving, he apologises to Kakashi for what he has caused and bids farewell, not before he told him he already told Rin to help him.
