Hello, I'm the Nostalgia Critic. I remember it so you don't have to.
~ Nostalgia Critic's catchphrase.

The Nostalgia Critic (real name: Douglas Darrien Walker) is the titular main protagonist of the YouTube review web series Nostalgia Critic and his website Channel Awesome.

He is a short-tempered critic who reviews movies for a living and will sometimes go cause a breakdown when he reviews bad enough movies to the point where he can commit pretty heinous deeds as a result.

He is portrayed by Douglas Darrien Walker.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • He is occasionally abusive towards his employees, sometimes hitting them or yelling at them angrily.
  • He would sometimes get into fights with the Angry Video Game Nerd, eventually leading to the two of them making an attempt to fight to the death at one point.
  • After being fed up with their juvenile behavior, the Nostalgia Critic lured the 4 Happy Maddison audience members into a room with poop and then killed them by activating a bomb and throwing it into the room with the door closed on them before sharing less than a second of a moment of silence for them and casually admitting that it was fun in the aftermath.
  • In the thumbnail of his review of Eight Crazy Nights, the Critic is holding a decapitated head of Whitey in front of a horrified Davey.
  • After getting fed up with the idiotic PSA messages Sonic provided in the show Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, he murders off most the characters by shooting them before setting an explosion inside it, likely killing all the other characters such as Sonic, Tails, Scratch, and even Robotnik in the aftermath.
  • After being fed up with Stanley's annoyance in the movie A Troll in Central Park, the Critic summons a porcupine that grows out of Stanley's anus, has it transform into a tyrannosaurus rex, and has it kill Stanley in a very brutal manner by making it eat his organs.
  • In order to prove that trying to murdering animals is not funny, the Critic throws a rock at a random owner's cat, murdering it in the aftermath to demonstrate the example.
  • After getting angry that Santa did not get him the Batman game he wanted, the Critic went to his workplace and murders him by shooting him before sarcastically yelling, "And a Happy New Year!"
  • In his Moulin Rouge review, he kills Brentalfloss just to give a sad ending to the review.
  • After being driven to insanity of how unfunny the movie Master of Disguise was (specifically the scene of a tasteless joke told by Pistachio Disguisey going in disguise and asking the waiter if he has tiny genitals just by looking at him while ordering food), the Critic assaulted a three random strangers by clobbering them several times with a bat whilst laughing like a maniac, even doing this to the cameraman, before going back inside to continue his review.
    • After getting fed up with how long Master of Disguise was taking to end, he ran all the way over to the Happy Maddison Productions building itself and blew it up, likely killing dozens of people in the aftermath, on top of vandalizing said building.
  • While parodying Anton Chigurh, the Critic killed Rob by blowing a bullet into his head before seemingly killing Tamara and Malcolm afterwards. However, the latter two were revealed to have not been actually killed by him, though he admitted that he did actually kill Rob for owing him $2.
  • While parodying Anton Chigurh, he killed the FamVideo clerk, Freddy, by leaving an activated bomb to explode in the shop with him before leaving it.
  • While reviewing Kangaroo Jack, he murders the titular character at the climax of the episode when he was parodying Looney Tunes' "That's All, Folks!" ending logo.
  • After getting sad upon learning that the heart of the TMNT franchise was selling toys, he shoots a random group of children chanting "We want turtles!" to make himself feel better.
  • After being driven to insanity due to how boring the Shining miniseries is, the Critic, parodying Jack Torrance's actions in the 1980 film version of The Shining, attempts to kill Rachel and Malcolm with a squeaky hammer, only stopping upon finding one good thing about the miniseries with Rachel's help.
  • After being fed up with Quest For Camelot not explaining its atmosphere, the Critic unleashes his wrath by causing a massive explosion twice, likely getting thousands of people murdered in the aftermath.
  • In the beginning of his We Wish You A Turtle Christmas review, his love for Christmas gets so strong that he ends up destroying the world in the aftermath.
  • In his Inspector Gadget Saves Christmas review, he blows up a planet full of aliens just because one of them claimed to love Christmas more than him.
  • He tried spreading his hate onto the film How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000), all by his immature attempts of hatemongering that was done to show why he thought the original Grinch short was better and trying to make his viewers hate the film like he does.
    • Upon clapping the snowflake the Whos live in, he kills off dozens of Whos.
  • In the film To Boldly Flee, he's portrayed as some war-loving general who talks like a dictator and gets himself, as well as his troops into war, for the fun of getting glory out of it.
  • While Roger tried to destroy the universe, the Critic has less resources than him.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He is way too comedic for NPE and is consistently played up for laughs, with his crimes, tirades, retorts and insane behavior being played up for black comedy and dark humor.
  • He is an anti-villain in the reviews, as his main objective is usually to get rid of bad movies or shows, even calling them bad and unwatchable when there are people who see the good in those films or shows.
    • As a critic, he sometimes gives advice towards directors on how to improve their moviemaking skills, even admitting at one point that he criticizes so that they can become better too.
  • He is on & off due to also performing heroic deeds on multiple occasions, spmetimes reaching vigilante terrority due to usually fighting villains at certain points.
  • He is genuinely affable towards his audience, often warning them to not watch movies he reviews if they're bad or even recommending them to watch them if he considers them good, and also occasionally gives a heartwarming message to them. He can even be affable towards his employees or even just people he comes across in general in spite of his bad temper and egotism, usually doing altruistic things for them.
  • He shows respect towards certain directors who make objectively good movies and shows that is given lots of quality, thought and effort put into it.
  • He has people he cares about, such as his parents as proven in his review of The Christmas Tree and The Nutcracker in 3D, and his pet mouse, Mrs. Brisby, as shown by how shocked he was upon discovering that Jared Leto Playing Joker killed her, even threatening to kill him for it angrily in his Suicide Squad review.
  • He can be considered tragic as some of his actions are caused by him losing his sanity because of the movies he is forced to be put through, some range from him overreacting to them to movies that are actually atrocious to watch.
  • He can be considered a scapegoat too due to the amount of suffering he usually endures when he reviews bad movies and is sometimes punished more than what he deserves, even if what he did was not that bad.
  • He is shown to have many insecurities in his Christmas with the Kranks review where he reveals that he was harassed when he was young and makes the videos he makes now for the sake of making his audience laugh, which is played for sympathy.
  • He has shown remorse over his actions on some occasions.
  • He has some standards as proven by how horrified he was at the brutal way Malice killed Danny Elfman and even tried to prevent her from doing it to a few more people. He's also appalled whenever films downplay horrific tragedies that happened in real life, most notably The Legend of the Titanic. Additionally, he was horrified at Wilkins' murdering of Tamara, calling him a "crazy, looney, insane madman" and swearing vengance upon him.
