“ | A Spanish man of faith cursed me as he died by my hand. He called me, "El Niño sin Amor", 'the child without love'. And I took my name from there. 'Namor'. Because I have no love for the surface world. | „ |
~ Namor explaining the origin of his name. |
Ch'ah Toh Almehen, better known as Namor or K'uk'ulkan, is the main antagonist of the 2022 Marvel Cinematic Universe film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
He is the mutant Talokanil monarch of the underwater Mayan city of Talokan, which was founded around the 1500s by Yucatán Mayan natives who wished to escape from the Spanish conquistadors by consuming a Vibranium-enhanced herb so they could live under the seas. Since then, Namor has been fighting to protect his people from any foreigners, willing to wage war on the world if they feel threatened, starting with Wakanda for refusing to ally with them.
He is portrayed by Tenoch Huerta.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- He and his people attacked the CIA or U.S. ships researching Vibranium outside of Wakanda out of hoarding Vibranium for their civilization, killing everyone involved in such research even though they were just doing their jobs.
- He blamed Wakanda for the Vibranium mining even though they weren't sharing it with foreign countries and threatens Queen Ramonda and War Criminal General Princess Shuri to deliver Riri Williams, an MIT student who created a Vibranium-detecting machine for the U.S. government, threatening to ravage Wakanda if she doesn't turn her to them.
- He sends his cousin Namora and his advisor, Attuma to kidnap Shuri and Riri for their involvement in the CIA's Vibranium detector, having all the police officers in the scene killed to not leave witnesses behind minus Okoye, who got demoted and fired from the Dora Milaje by Ramonda as a result.
- He intends to wage war against all of the surface world when Shuri rejected the offer he made for Wakanda to ally with Talokan out of being target for their Vibranium reserves, threatening to destroy Wakanda first and also to kill her and Riri if the latter isn't handed over to him.
- He floods the Golden City's waterways of Wakanda for Shuri and Riri escaping Talokan and apparently killing one of his servants, leading to many casualties and to Queen Ramonda to drown when she decides to rescue Riri from the same fate with both being caught up in the flood.
- In turn, this leads a vulnerable Shuri to synthetically recreate the Heart-Shaped Herb through the Vibranium-infused plant sample she stole from before escaping Talokan and come across her cousin Erik Killmonger's spirit in the Ancestral Plane, who nearly corrupted her into becoming just as bad as him and Namor.
- He calls for reinforcements when the Wakandans ambush him and his Talokans in the open ocean, leading to both Talokan and Wakandan deaths.
- He takes Shuri, now as the Black Panther, to a beach while leaving both of their troops behind to fight against each other and engages her in a duel to the death, even stabbing her in the stomach with a Vibranium spear in a desperate attempt to survive.
- His actions were devastating enough for Shuri to almost kill him just to avenge her mother, only relenting upon concluding that such horrific act would've made her just as homicidal as her cousin and wouldn't have been something her merciful brother T'Challa would have done in addition to worsening political tensions between Talokan and Wakanda.
- Despite the high Heinous Standards of the MCU, Namor manages to stand out due to his intentions to destroy and kill thousands of people in his war against the surface even though several of them hadn't done anything bad to him or his people. Plus, even if he unjustifiably kills U.S. federal agents and some Wakandans, Namor flooded Wakanda in his campaign, which likely lead several Wakandans, possibly even children, to drown. Consequently, it can be said that Namor is equally heinous as the Mandarin due to all the crimes they have committed for centuries.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is far too tragic, as he witnessed how the Spanish conquistadors savagely enslaved the Yucatán Mayan natives who were part of his mother Fen's community when he was just a child with him killing the conquistadors being justified as a result. It's because of this, plus the Spanish trying to kill him and his fellow Talokans as they tried to bury Fen, that Namor developed a misanthropic point of view against the surface world, which is played for sympathy.
- He deeply loves his mother Fen, as evidenced how he buried her after passing away in her former home out of the nostalgia Fen felt for the place.
- He genuinely cares for Talokan's population and does whatever he sees necessary to protect them at all costs, like slaughtering countless Vibranium smugglers for trying to take away their sacred mineral and ultimately calling off the Talokan-Wakanda war to ensure both the Talokans and the Wakandans could live in peace and prevent more unnecessary bloodshed.
- He is affable towards others, behaving in a humble way even to his own subjects, who venerate him as their savior, and to Princess Shuri when he tried to recruit her into his plans, only turning on her for rejecting his proposal. Furthermore, his reason to flood Wakanda's Golden City was motivated due to the War Dog member Nakia accidentally killing one of the Talokans.
- He ends up somewhat redeeming himself when Shuri makes him realize that they have been both consumed by vengeance and that if they kill each other, their respective kingdoms would never cease the fighting, leading the Wakandans and Talokans to make a peaceful truce, though Namor seems to be a bit angry that things didn't go his way and doesn't appear to have dropped his misanthropy towards the rest of humanity.
