Muffet is a supporting antagonist in the 2015 indie RPG Undertale.
She is a spider monster who runs a bake sale charity for other spiders. At the same time, she is also hired by presumably Mettaton to kill Frisk and turn in their SOUL in exchange for a generous amount of money.
Her Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Her Heinous?[]
- The products she sells at her bake sales are explicitly stated to be made out of other spiders, meaning she kills and eats her own kind. The cannibalism is proven when an advertisement says her products are "for spiders".
- She extorts very high amounts of money out of customers.
- She tries killing Frisk upon being told by someone, most likely Mettaton, she would get paid if she did it.
- In the Genocide Route, it's revealed that she refused to evacuate from Hotland when Alphys warned her to, despite being aware that Frisk is killing every monster they come across and that Alphys could stop them if Muffet left her bake sale. This means that she's essentially the main reason why we are allowed to complete the Genocide Route and not get softlocked by Hotland, making her responsible for all the deaths that happened in Hotland, the CORE and New Home.
- Additionally, she shows no remorse for this, simply stating that she wishes she could have eaten Alphys when she got the chance.
- She cannot be compared to characters like Flowey, Asgore, Chara or the SOUL due to having lower resources of simply being a regular monster.
What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]
- She is affably evil, being quite polite to you during her fight and being casual and friendly once the player backtracks to her. She will even let you go without a fight if there is proof you support her cause.
- She has a sense of honor, as she spares anyone who doesn't harm spiders, which allows the player to outright skip her boss fight by buying a Spider Donut back in the Ruins and then eating it at the beginning of the battle.
- While she does kill and eat her own kind to make her bake sale products, she still cares for spiders, as she wants to free the ones trapped in the Ruins.
- She is an extremist, as she simply wants to help her people leave the Ruins.
- She redeems herself in the True Pacifist Ending, arriving to help Frisk defeat Flowey and then starting a normal life on the surface.
- If the player chooses to kill her, her death will be played for sympathy with a spider arriving and placing a flower on where she died.
