Mr. "WPNZ" Katphish, better known simply as Mr. WPNZ (pronounced as "Mister Weapons"), is a major antagonist of Glitch Productions' SMG4 franchise, serving as one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Leggy) of the Showgrounds Era, and more specifically the main antagonist of the 15th and final season.
He is an assassin who has various weapons and technology as biological parts of himself, the former work partner and ex-husband of Karen Katphish, and is the father of Zack, Katie and Cory, who after years away from Karen’s life, finally wishes to “reconnect” with the family, ordering Mario to kidnap Karen’s three children so he can properly bond with them. However, said method of bonding proves incredibly reckless and psychotic, which reaches a breaking point upon him bringing the kids with him on a deadly mission. He is Karen Katphish's ex-husband turned former archenemy. He, alongside Toomp, are the former representatives and right-hands of Mr. Puzzles.
He was voiced by Gianni Matragrano.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
In General[]
- Despite the high heinous standards of the series, Mr. WPNZ stands out for endangering the universe and trying to get his children into assassination jobs. He also has less resources than Niles as he is a cosmic entity, whereas WPNZ is just an assassin with advanced weapons.
Background[]
- In the past, he worked as an assassin with Katana and committed numerous heinous crimes, such as killing presumably dozens of people, robbing and committing theft, bombing and destroying people's houses, and having engaged in arson and widespread property damage.
- During Katana's pregnancy, he left her due to fundamental disagreements about raising their children, with him wanting to train them as assassins like himself. This resulted in Katana abandoning her old life as an assassin and not using her alias anymore and instead going by Karen.
SMG4[]
- He convinced Mario to abduct his children to be be his recruits and manipulated them into getting along with him by playing Minecraft with them, and during this gameplay, he repeatedly shot Mario, demonstrating sadism.
- He also convinced his kids to join him in shooting Mario.
- When Karen (with SMG4's help) tried to find her children, he cruelly used his arm to control Mario and attack Karen and SMG4, leading to SMG4 being very injured.
- When Karen confronted him for trying for trying to turn Zack, Katie and Cory in assassins like himself, he convinced his kids to join his side and to leave her behind.
- He tried getting his children into assassination jobs to steal the Monopoly Man's golden pieces.
- When his children started annoying him with their overconfidence, he threw them into the Amazon headquarters right in front of several gards, ordering them to fight them, which led to one of them getting nearly killed, which he did nothing about and instead callously berated them by telling them he "needs them to be stronger" and to "get up".
- When his kids chose Karen over him, he ragefully attempted to kill them all, claiming that "no ungreatful little brats of his would grow up like wusses". This shows that Mr. WPNZ is willing to hurt, attack, and even attempt to kill his own family members for petty reasons, making him an abusive hypocrite.
- His fate of being left behind while dismembered by Karen and her kids, while pitifull, doesn't make him tragic, sympathetic nor a scapegoat as he fully deserved it for what he did to his familly.
- Although he rejected it at first, he soon agrees to help free Mr. Puzzles.
- He steals some items from SMG4 and his friends as ordered by Mr. Puzzles.
- He also goes against Mr. Puzzles's word and steals Meggy's splatter gun.
- When he gets caught trying to steal from Mario's house, he attacks and almost kills SMG4, SMG3, Bob, and Meggy, going again against Mr. Puzzles' orders who told him to retreat.
- He breaks Mr. Puzzles out of prison and talks about plans of having them and Toomp rob banks.
- He breaks into SMG4's castle and attempts to kidnap Meggy before Mr. Puzzles betrays him.
- After Mr. Puzzles backstabs him, he attempts to kill him and reveals his entire plot that Puzzles was lying to the SMG4 crew about changing himself. While his wrath against Mr. Puzzles is justified since the former betrayed him, it doesn't make him tragic nor a scapegoat since he did something similar to Karen beforehand (for trying to kill her and his kids when his kids rejected him for child endangerment), and him trying to kill Puzzles was going too far.
- During their fight, WPNZ said Puzzles didn't deserve real friends anymore. While Puzzles betraying him and later saying it was no wonder Karen and her kids abandoned him wasn't right either, it doesn't excuse WPNZ bringing up Puzzles' insecurities, and in fact makes him look more like a hypocrite, as he brought up a personal issue Puzzles struggles with but gets angrier when Puzzles mocked his own insecurity.
- During WOFTI 2025, he tried to kill Mr. Puzzles numerous times, which culminates in him trying to kill him while he is fixing the Youtube remote, even when SMG4 told him he was the only one capable of fixing it, and if he didn't, the universe would be destroyed. When SMG4 and his friends tried to stand up to him, WPNZ vengefully teamed up with the villains who were accidentally brought back, and then fought against Mr. Puzzles and SMG4's gang, nearly killing them and winning in the process if it weren't for the many allies of the SMG4 crew, who were summoned by Mr. Puzzles and helped the crew defeat the villains.
- After Mr. Puzzles fixed the Youtube remote, he savagely started beating him up even after he excused himself for everything he did to him, and would have killed him had it not been for him purposefully missing his shot at the last second after seeing that he didn't even try to resist. While WPNZ did show a few signs of hesitation and Puzzles did admit he deserved the beating WPNZ inflicted on him, it still doesn't mean what WPNZ did was right.
- Although he accepted his fate and redeemed himself by helping Mr. Puzzles and the SMG4 crew save the universe, he never showed remorse for most of his actions like endangering the whole universe.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- Despite being taken generally seriously by the characters in-universe and the narrative, due to coming from SMG4, he is too comedic for NPE by default, not to mention having numerous detracting moments himself such as his face being stomped by Karen, his awkward performance to distract from a prison break and dressing up as an old man to help with Mr. Puzzles' false redemption. The work's constant use of sociopathic humor also prevents him from being Silly NPE.
- There are some people he cares for:
- He grows to deeply regret trying to kill his family and seems to want them to go into the life as an assassin, believing it's for the best. Before his sacrifice, he even has SMG4 give Karen a friendly note saying that Karen is her kid's #1 Mom.
- He has a genuine friendship with Mr. Puzzles and Toomp, going through fun adventures and escaping the law with them, and while he does fight with Mr. Puzzles, this was because Mr. Puzzles said that Mr. WPNZ meant nothing to him, and the two would later reconcile with each other at the end of WOFTI 2025, not to mention that while WPNZ beated him, he showed a few signs of uncertainty.
- While it doesn't make him tragic nor a scapegoat, he is played for sympathy numerous times:
- After having fought Karen and her kids, he gets numerous flashbacks at random of his memories with them, which puts him through emotional flooding.
- Despite him doing something similar to Karen (as mentioned in the "Heinous" section), him being betrayed by Mr. Puzzles after being manipulated into a false friendship is still meant to be played sympathetically.
- In Weaponz of Mass Destruction, he has a hard time being a good father figure to Toomp, which leads to a brief falling out between the two, and cause WPNZ to be frustrated at possibly failing again to be a good parental figure.
- While not as much as it was for Mr. Puzzles, his death is still played for a little sympathy, since sad music was playing when WPNZ gave SMG4 a note for his family shortly before he joined Puzzles in sealing the time anomaly from within and when Karen was shown to be emotional after reading WPNZ's note to her.
- At the end of War of the Fat Italians 2025, he ultimately redeems himself by giving up on his wrath against Mr. Puzzles and rekindling his friendship with him after realising that he made an honest attempt at atoning for his actions against him, as well as presumably sacrificing his life to help Mr. Puzzles to save the universe. He also gives SMG4 a note for Karen and the kids and even wanted him to ensure that they got his note, which further proves this redemption. This also shows that he still cares about his ex-wife and his children.
