~ Mr. Puzzles' return as he meets Mr. WPNZ and manipulates him into joining his plan. |
Mr. Puzzles, formerly known as the Mysterious TV Guy, is a major antagonist in the Australian adult-animated comedy series SMG4, serving as the main antagonist of the Showgrounds Era.
He is the titular main antagonist of the Puzzlevision Saga, serving as the overarching antagonist of Seasons 13, SMG4 Movie: IT'S GOTTA BE PERFECT, and War of the Fat Italians 2023, one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside Francis) of SMG4 Movie: Western Spaghetti, the main antagonist of Season 14, SMG4 Movie: PUZZLEVISION, War of the Fat Italians 2024, one of the two main antagonists (alongside Mr. WPNZ) of Season 15 and one the two overarching antagonists (alongside Karen's assassin ex boss) of SMG4 Movie: Silence of the Cats. He is the current arch-nemesis of the SMG4 Gang, particularly the current arch-nemesis of SMG4 and Mario, the second arch-nemesis of Meggy, and the arch-rival of SMG3.
He is a powerful human-TV hybrid and the manipulative, charismatic, narcissistic and insane founder of the streaming service Puzzlevision, who wishes to achieve complete perfection in his shows by brainwashing the whole world into being characters in it. Mr. Puzzles torments and manipulates the SMG4 Crew into several sadistic adventures to create content, and uses them as the main cast for his streaming service, which tragically resulted in the destruction of Peach's Castle with Princess Peach turning into an unhinged beast, the fall and death of One-Shot Wren while also Meggy becoming permanently traumatized, and the betrayal of Marty who's now seeking vengeance on Mario, Ultimately being responsible for forever changing the lives of the SMG4 gang.
He was voiced by Brendan Blaber.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
In General[]
- He is ultimately the one both directly and indirectly responsible for most of the events of Season 13 and The New Era of the series, as his actions in SMG4 Movie: IT'S GOTTA BE PERFECT left a huge impact on the series, with SMG4's Gang having to build a new castle after the destruction of Peach's Castle and Meggy becoming permanently scarred and traumatized for life thanks to One-Shot Wren's fall to villany, meaning Mr. Puzzles has more influence in his hands than the other SMG4 villains.
- Even after his previous defeats, his actions still influenced the series, and the characters no matter the cost.
- While Niles did far worse, Mr. Puzzles still stands out due to his unique crimes, lower resources, and his massive influence over the modern seasons, and the New Era of the series.
- Although, Meggy believes Mr. Puzzle can change and he did seem to change, he subverts it by saying that he still wants to kill the SMG4 crew.
- Although he was very affable towards Meggy, it's clear that he only admired her for her Leggy alter-ego, the one who helped him achieve his goals.
- While he has many sympathetic and punching bag moments, they don't make him a scapegoat due to all the horrible crimes he committed and he subverts many of his punching bag moments.
- His motivation for targeting the SMG4 crew was because he thought their show was "The Stupidest That He Has Ever Saw", which is a very petty excuse for all his crimes against them.
SMG4[]
Season 13[]
- He sold SMG4 the demonic keyboard by lying to him about it being a normal keyboard and by telling him that it will make SMG4's video perfect, making him indirectly responsible for the Eldritch Goop being released and all its actions like driving SMG4 into further insanity, trying to destroy the Mushroom Kingdom, putting SMG3 in a fate worse than death, corrupting Toad, and is indirectly responsible for Peach's Castle getting permanently sunk along with Peach.
- In SMG4 Movie: Western Spaghetti, he's revealed to be responsible for turning One-Shot Wren into an villain by inviting him to an virtual simulation where he will be in charge. This makes him indirectly responsible for the events in the movie, such as Wren kidnapping the SMG4 cast and putting them in a fate worse than death within the simulation, particularly driving Meggy insane after a month. After that, this event has caused Meggy to become completely emotionally scarred, and ultimately made her permanently traumatized. While Wren nullified his tragedy due to taking it out on Meggy, Tari, the crew and friends of the crew, who had nothing to do with it, and chose to accept the invitation, Mr. Puzzles nonetheless contributed to Wren's villainy, and was even indirectly responsible for his death, since the machine couldn't take bringing the virtual reality into the real world.
- His actions caused Princess Peach to lose her sanity and turn into a horrific monster because of the events of It's Gotta Be Perfect.
- He orchestrated Marty and Mario to betray their friends by lying to Marty about a secret pizza recipe in SMG3's notebook, prompting Marty to manipulating and convince Mario to steal it after feeling his friends no longer cared for him, causing the two of them to nearly kill their friends. While Mario escaped Prison, he left Marty behind. Enraged at losing his only friend to spaghetti, Marty escaped from jail and vowed revenge to make Mario and everyone else suffer.
- Upon greeting the audience, he tauntingly states that he will return to cause chaos for his entertainment.
Season 14[]
- It's heavily implied that he caused the blackout to the SMG4 Castle's basement, causing Mario to go Co-Co Crazy because the TV wasn't work.
- He captured the SMG4 crew in digital eternity and forced them to be the main cast of his shows, where he wiped their minds several times and gave negative personality traits, which is a fate worse than death as we see the SMG4 crew in pain mentally.
- In Mr. Puzzles' Incredible Game Show Spectacular!, when he could get 5 Stars and having enough of Mario's antics, he trapped Mario in a No No Zone-cage outside the video to prevent further disruptions and crashed the gameshow with several props, putting many lives at risk.
- When he realizes Mario escaped, he invades the SMG4 Castle and tries to pull Mario back into the TV.
- He throws the SMG4 crew into different TV shows to spread their chaos across them in order to gain 5 Stars.
- After obtaining 5 Stars, Mr. Puzzles turns the entire world into a TV show (forcefully enslaving its inhabitants), with him as the main character and to effectively everyone in the world to fates worse than death.
- After Mario made him lose 5 Stars, he forced him to smash his head against the wall 1,000 times.
- As the SMG4 crew tried to upstage him, he tries to kill them.
- After that, he was going to find new actors just to likely do the same thing to them.
- Although he announced that he would abandon the 5 Star idea, he decided it's much easier to transform SMG4's show into his own.
- In Despicable Mr. Puzzles, he crashes the Death Star into the Earth, killing everyone (although since this was a show where almost nobody in it was real, he didn't really kill them.)
- He manipulated Leggy into joining him and helping him enter the Meme Factory.
- This caused Leggy to haunt Meggy and attempt to get her to join Mr. Puzzles again.
- He beats up Bob, Luigi, SMG3, and SMG4 alongside Leggy and takes over temporarily the Comedy Zone and the Meme Factory.
- He breaks into Mario's House, steals Mario's mustache, and uses it to create Pedro as a replacement.
- When SMG4 and SMG3 decided to rig the votes to get Mario's mustache back, he threatened them with violence if they didn't stand down.
- He founded his YouTube channel Puzzlebox for the kids of the Mushroom Kingdom just to have popularity, which made the kids cause chaos.
- When he grew irritated by how annoying and awful the kids were being, he ended Puzzlebox and even insulted them, although they brought it upon themselves for attacking him, they are still just a bunch of children who don't know any better.
- He sadistically threw Mickey off of Disney World's Engine Room balcony, killing him, and also murdered Donald by choking him to death with a vacuum when he and Goofy confronted him over this heinous act, sucking his soul out, before he took over Disney and made himself it's new owner, as well as turning Disney World into Puzzle Park.
- He breaks into Meggy's house by hijacking her TV and tries to emotionally manipulate her into joining him again, and when she refuses to join because of everything he did to her and her friends, he forces her back into Leggy by having Pete crush her.
- He fuses himself with the Engine Core to control Puzzle Park.
- He sent Leggy out to trick and manipulate SMG4's Gang into coming to Puzzle Park and playing "fun games", where he captured them and brainwashed them into becoming clowns that would obey him, and forced Mario and SMG4 to perform in a bunch of twisted and sadistic mini games where they are tortured and nearly killed at most parts. This would go on forever if Mario didn't figure out how to turn Leggy back to Meggy.
- After Mario turned Meggy back to normal, he ended up turning her back into Leggy with a bonk on the head.
- After SMG4 and Mario turn Leggy back into Meggy, he gets furious and tries to kill all three of them.
- When Meggy tried to bring out his humanity, he grabbed her and dropped her into the abyss below him to kill her, rejecting his chance of redemption in the process.
- Even though he seems to be a changed person thanks to Meggy with her destroying the engine core (even was about to tell the lesson he has learned), he instantly subverts this redeeming quality as he is actually in an even worse mental state, implying that he still wants to kill the SMG4 crew for their rebellious acts and taking away everything he has built for with his new friend, Leggy 2.0, all while laughing insanely, having completely lost his sanity as a result and doesn't fell remorse for his crimes.
- His actions caused Disney to be shut down permanently.
Season 15[]
- At the end of SMG4 Movie: Silence of the Cats, he speaks to Mr. WPNZ through hijacking a TV that was in front of him and tries to recruit him to presumably make good on his promise of seeking revenge against those who’ve wronged him.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- Although his crimes are well-played for horror and drama and he is still taken very seriously, he's still too comedic to be NPE or PE thanks to the memetic nature of the series. He also has moments mostly involved in slapstick used against himself. He also has a moment where he references Frankenstein when he brings Pedro to life, switching his screen to Mike Wazowski and screaming in the same voice as him, and getting angry at Leggy calling him nice and insisting they're not friends or "buddy-buddy" in an over-the-top manner.
- He does have a genuine friendship with Leggy, even calling her a friend, and feeling heartbroken every time, she's taken away from him, as well as missing her when he remembered she wasn't around anymore, with flashbacks of him remembering how much they bonded. No matter how twisted it eventually became, he never subverted his care for her.
- He is a tragic character as all his life; he had no friends and his father belittled him for dreaming of building and owning an amusement park stating he had "no creative vision". This also comes with sympathetic insecurities, as all he wants is to be noticed and appreciated for his work.
- Even ignoring this, he has some sympathetic moments, such as when he lost Leggy the first time, him crying after the incident with the Puzzlebox kids, when he remembered Leggy and the bond they shared in his mansion, the scene in his mind where Meggy befriends him even after he tortured her with Wren, the lesson he wanted to tell SMG4, Mario, and Meggy after the core was destroyed, and, whilst not as sympathetic as some of the other moments, his first defeat of him crying and saying all he wanted was to make a good TV show (even if it was played for comedy as well.) and other moments as well. While none of these moments make him a scapegoat because of all the horrible things he has done, they nonetheless portray Mr. Puzzles in a sympathetic and humanizing light, showing even he is capable of showing emotions outside of sadism or anger.
Trivia[]
- He serves as a foil to SMG4 (Directors who are known to create videos that are entertaining and hilarious), the counterpart of SMG3 (Seemingly replacing SMG3 as the main antagonist of the series going forward), and resembles Mario in terms of history (Having fathers who scorned them). All of them are Inconsistently Admirable. Two of them are also Inconsistently Heinous.
- He is, so far, the only SMG4 Inconsistently Heinous to either not be redeemed or die.
