“ | Morgana: My, you are strong! Strong enough to wield my weapon, strong enough to be my gracious host! You open a big-enough door, something's bound to escape! Claire: The portal! The sickness! The signs under my bed! Morgana: You've already told Gunmar all he needs to know but since I'm out and about, I thought we kill Merlin's Trollhunter as soon as we get him alone! |

~ Morgana taunting Claire before possessing her. |
Morgana le Fay is a major character in the Tales of Arcadia franchise, serving as the main antagonist of Trollhunters, an unseen antagonist in 3Below, a major protagonist in Wizards and a flashback character in Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans.
She is a powerful sorceress who was Merlin's apprentice before she became a pawn of Bellroc and Skrael to assist in their plot to make magickind the dominant species over the world, becoming his arch-enemy and planning on unleashing the Eternal Night to wipe out humanity. She is also the sister of King Arthur, who became the Green Knight.
She was voiced by Lena Headey who also played Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones and Evil-Lyn in Masters of the Universe: Revelation.
What Makes Her Heinous?[]
Wizards[]
- Upon being revived and empowered by the Arcane Order, Morgana was filled with hatred towards her brother, King Arthur, and sent a Changeling to Camelot in an attempt to kill him. The Changeling caused a large amount of destruction and it is implied that some of the knights fighting it were killed.
- She teamed up with Gunmar, proposing her idea of the "Eternal Night," which would allow his army to go to the surface without being turned to stone by sunlight. Then, they would wipe out all of humanity.
- She taunted Merlin and Douxie when they searched for her and seriously injured her former teacher. When they found her again, she sent a shadow version of herself to kill them while she went to finish King Arthur.
- When she found her brother, she attempted to kill him slowly, although she eventually relented upon hearing his remorse.
- She blamed Merlin for her brother's death and tried to kill him and all of his allies.
Trollhunters[]
- After her imprisonment, Angor Rot went to her spirit, asking for the ability to help save his village from Gunmar. Morgana gave him powers, but also enslaved his soul in a ring known as the Inferna Copula, ordering him to kill Merlin's Trollhunters.
- Considering that due to Morgana tricking him to sell out his soul, she alone is responsible for why Angor became the twistedly sadistic and extremely heinous villain he ended up becoming, and remains as arguably her most heinous crime due to what all it caused.
- After Claire became connected to her by using her Shadow Staff, Morgana revealed herself to her and possessed her body, planning on using it to kill Jim, the current Trollhunter, while being aware of their relationship, being very gleeful and sadistic in this. Even in Wizards, she actually looks back to this fondly.
- When Jim and Toby went to the Shadow Realm to save Claire, Morgana tried to manipulate Stricklander into trapping them there.
- She revived Angor Rot to use as her assassin again. Shortly after that, when Angor Rot confronted Gunmar, Morgana threatened to destroy him if he failed her.
- She was also merely using Gunmar as a pawn and planned on disposing of him once he killed humanity for her.
- After finally escaping, Morgana killed dozens of Gunmar's soldiers in order to use their remains to create the Eternal Night.
- She successfully unleashed the Eternal Night upon Earth, resulting in countless trolls destroying the world, ordering all of Gunmar's troops to devour and wipe out all of humanity.
- When Merlin confronted her, she sadistically tried to torture him to his death.
- She ruthlessly attacked Jim before attempting to kill him by throwing him into the fiery tornado that was generating the Eternal Night.
- After subduing Jim and his allies, Morgana saw Angor Rot approaching them and tried to have him kill the Trollhunter. When he attacked her instead, she ends up killing him.
- She made one final attempt to destroy all of her enemies and when she was being pulled into the Shadow Realm, she tried to drag Claire with her.
What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]
- She has a tragic backstory since:
- She was in a conflict with her brother for her whole life since she wanted peace with the magical creatures while he hated them. Then she had to witness her friend Guinevere get killed and her brother becomes genocidal against the creatures she wanted to protect. Then, after fighting her brother, she was accidentally killed by him, only to be revived and used as a pawn by the Arcane Order.
- Although she initially tried to kill Arthur, she almost reconciled with him later but had to then watch him get killed, which devastated her.
- After her second defeat and being imprisoned in the Shadow Realm, she felt peaceful there but was brought back to destroy the world once again, completely against her will.
- She tried to save Arthur, only to realize that he's beyond redemption at this point.
- She is a well-intentioned extremist because she wanted to conquer the world so that magical beings could be free and believed that humanity was preventing them from having that freedom and hence needed to be destroyed. Even in Trollhunters, this was alluded to (vaguely which lead to her former PE status), in which she claims to want trollkind's freedom and asks Angor why he isn't cheering for his kind's victory.
- She shows some standards, as she was uncomfortable working for Bellroc and Skrael again after knowing their omnicidal plans to wipe out the entire universe which will destroy magic and was shocked her brother was willingly assisting in such plans.
- She joined the heroes in the fight against the Arcane Order and stop them from ushering the end of all that lives and finally redeemed herself by removing Arthur's right to wield Excalibur and sacrificing herself to defeat him. In the afterlife, she reconciled with Merlin, letting go of all of her hatred.
Trivia[]
- She was formerly considered a Pure Evil villain in Trollhunters. However, after her tragic backstory and anti-villainous traits were revealed and Morgana ultimately redeems herself in Wizards, she was promptly removed and approved as Inconsistently Heinous.
