Tails Nine has targeted this article to rename it to
"Mewtwo (Pokémon: The First Movie)" for the following reasons:
{{{2}}}
"The name's... NINE!!!!"

Who am I? What is my true reason for being? I will find my own purpose and purge this planet of all who oppose me. Humans and Pokémon alike. The world will heed my warning. The reign of Mewtwo... will soon begin.
~ Mewtwo

Mewtwo is the main antagonist of Pokémon: The First Movie and its 2019 CGI remake Mewtwo Strikes Back - Evolution, and the titular deuteragonist in Mewtwo Returns.

It originally wished to destroy all of humanity and the Pokémon that served it by attempting to destroy the world, and refill it with Pokémon clones, but soon after it killed Ash Ketchum, and watched all the Pokémon shed tears because of it, it would have a change of heart and wipe out everyone's memories, as well as redeem itself by doing various good things. After the first movie, it would become a recurring anti-hero, becoming much more benevolent, and doing heroic things like stopping a bus from falling off a mountain.

In the Japanese version, it was voiced by Shōtarō Morikubo as a child, and by Masachika Ichimura when fully grown. In the English dubbed version, it was voiced by Jay Goede (credited as Philip Bartlett) in The First Movie, and by Jay Synder (Also known by his alias Dan Green) in Mewtwo Returns. Ichimura and Green reprised their roles as Mewtwo in Mewtwo Strikes Back - Evolution.

It's Evil Ranking[]

What Makes It Heinous?[]

  • It would end up killing all of it's own creators by destroying New Island.
  • It temporarily helped Giovanni with his goals of world domination.
  • It destroyed the Team Rocket headquarters, presumably with Team Rocket Grunts still in it thus killing them.
  • It ends up kidnapping a Nurse Joy and forces her to serve it.
  • It would create a storm and challenge various Pokémon Trainers to go through it.
  • It created various clones of Pokémon and had them attack the trainers and their Pokémon.
  • It would use the storm to attempt to destroy the entire world out of sheer misanthropy and hatred for the Pokémon that served the trainers, and recreate it in it's own image by filling it with cloned Pokémon.
  • It managed to kill Ash Ketchum while fighting Mew, albeit only briefly. This makes it the first villain to ever successfully kill Ash, and one of the very few overall to do so.
  • Ultimately, it set up the extremely high heinous standard of Pokémon, and changed the tone of Pokémon in general from being rather lighthearted to having numerous moments where it gets really dark.

What Makes It Inconsistent?[]

  • It is very tragic, as it lived much of its life inside a tube while still being alive, it was very confused about its purpose in the world and had to watch all its clone friends die.
  • It ultimately redeems itself in the end, becoming much more benevolent, saving a bus of passengers from falling off a mountain, and becoming a protector of abused Pokémon.

Trivia[]

  • It is the only Pokémon Inconsistently Heinous villain to come from the anime series.
  • Only the English dub version counts as Inconsistently Heinous, as the original Japanese version does not use the storm as an attempt to destroy the world and fill it with cloned Pokémon, and instead uses it as a means to an end.
  • There is a second Mewtwo in the movie Genesect and The Legend Awakened. However, that Mewtwo is not Inconsistently Heinous as that is a completely different Mewtwo who doesn't really do anything villainous at all.
