NOTE: This is about Japanese Generation One Continuity version of Megatron as his USA Cartoon version was voted Pure Evil. So only into on Megatron from the Japanese Generation One Continuity should be included

Peace Through Tyranny!
~ Megatron's ultimate motto and Ideology
There will be no war today Prime. You have earned Galvatron's respect
~ Megatron's initial redemption as he calls off the War

Megatron, also known as Galvatron, and by many other many aliases is the overarching protagonist of the Transformers Japanese Generation One Continuity.

Unlike his American Generation One counterpart, this version of Megatron, instead of remaining evil, decided to change for the better and become a true hero and would build a better future with his former archenemy Optimus Prime.

He is voiced by the late Seizō Katō in the Japanese Dub of the G1 Cartoon, Scramble City, and Headmasters, Wataru Takagi in the Japanese Dub of Beast Wars, and Jirō Saitō in Robot Masters. In English he through technicality he is voiced by Frank Welker in the USA Cartoon, Garry Chalk in Beast Wars, and Rick Thomas in the Omni-Productions Dub of the Headmasters Anime while he had no English actor for the Robot Masters Anime since it was not dubbed in English.

His Evil Ranking[]

Debated Validations[]

  • The Japanese Generation One timeline is a massive train-wreck of an continuity due to many continuity errors and plot holes which was explained in-universe by Ask Vector Prime due to it being unstable reality. So some of his acts may or may not be canon.
  • While the events of Robotmasters are confirmed canon it is not stated if it is the Anime, Manga or even both versions played out.

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

In General[]

  • While he did do heroic acts prior to his redemption, they were all out of pragmatism but however since he redeemed himself they can considered genuine now.
  • While he did redeem himself and felt remorse for some of his crimes, he didn’t feel remorse for all of them such as abusing his troops such as Starscream to name the few.
  • He committed the exact same crimes as his US counterpart up to the events of Season 3 before his shared history with his US version diverged when the Rebirth was ignored and went with the Headmasters and the original Japanese Media.
  • While he doesn't appear in Masterforce, Victory or Zone due to him being killed in Headmasters, his actions would later has consequences that had Scoroponok, Devil Z, Deathsaurus and Violen Jiger continuing his war would make him indirectly responsible for their crimes.
  • Despite how jacked up high the heinous standard of the Japanese Generation One Continuity is and despite having very high resources at his disposal, Megatron stands out for causing the Great War which gives him a very high kill count, enslaved multiple races, having nearly the same crimes as his US Cartoon version and for nearly destroying and recreating the Multiverse allows him to pass the heinous standard and stand out from the many other villains.

Transformers[]

  • He shares pretty much the same history USA Cartoon counterpart up to the events of the "Return of Optimus Prime" before their histories diverged since the Cartoon & Movie are canon as it started off as a Japanese Dub of the American Cartoon.

Transformers TV-Magazine Manga[]

  • His attacks on Japan many times throughout the Manga Tie-In:
    • Attempted to have the Stunticons frame the Autobots by wearing Autobot symbols to pose as them.
    • Had Trypticon unleashed before the events of Scramble City where he attempted to have him destroy the Autobots.
  • He as Galvatron would attempt to use Megatron Clones to destroy Rodimus Prime and the Autobots.

Transformers: Scramble City[]

  • He would unleash an Decepticon attack where he unleashed Menasor and Bruticus.
  • He would later unleash Trypticon on the Autobots in this attempt to destroy them. In Legends Manga tie-in attacking place afterward the OVA Trypticon would render Metroplex stuck in City Mode.

Transformers: Kiss Players & 15 Go! Go![]

  • As Galvatron while it was Unicron's Minions that made crash into Earth and leveled Tokyo when Rodimus Prime tossed him out of the Chaos Bringer which killed millions, while it was unintentional he not shown any remorse for those actions at all. That event would nearly destroy Autobot and Human relationships with driving Hitoshizuku Amaō into villainy due to the destruction of Tokyo killing her daughter Shizuku Amaō being the catalyst to it and making her do whatever it takes to bring her back by trying to sacrifice Atari and use his energy to revive her daughter which later got her killed, making him responsible for the entire events of Kiss Players.
  • In 15 Go Go a dimension displaced version himself as Galvatron nearly brutally killed Teletraan 10 and 15 with ripping off the latter’s arm off with his teeth who are sapient human-like androids only driven away by the Autobots.

Transformers: The Headmasters[]

  • He restarted the war which indirectly got Optimus Prime killed to prevent Vector Sigma from overloading again and later Blaster and Ultra Mangus though the former got revived as Twincast.
  • Enslaved multiple alien races such as the Beastformers.
  • Attempted to sacrifice all of his troops for parts abd make the Earth his new body to become Grand Galvatron which would kill not only all of his troops but also all life on Earth.

Transformers Battle Stars[]

  • In Battlestars he helped Dark Nova in his act of attempting in destroying the Autobots after being revived as Super Megatron and later upgraded into Ultra Megatron.
  • He attacked an oil rig and attempted to eat an human alive until Star Convoy intervened and stopped him.

Transformers: Generation 2[]

  • He reignited the Great War after dissolving the Cybertronian Alliance and lead to the events of the G2 Wars after his close friend Kiloton was killed by the Russian army to rule under his rule to protect his people.
    • While he was defeated in a duel and honored his word. Galvatron II ended up forcing him to be his lackey.

E-Hobby Manga[]

  • He would attempt to attack an facility Daniel Wittwicky is guarding (who is in a Transformer body) and would leave him to nearly die.
  • He would attempt to have Menasor destroy Optimus Prime and Superion only to be interrupted by Grand Scourge's intervention.

Transformers Legends[]

  • He attempted to conquer the Legends World and made himself CEO of Tekura-CEO before he gave up on it.
    • While he did attempt to do it again when he worked together with Armada Megatron when he visited it they both gave up after being defeated.
    • He ended up selling Nightbird Shadow clones of Nightbird which ended up causing destruction before he stopped it, despite being aware of the consequences.

Transformers: Generations Selects[]

  • His 2010 self as Galvatron set between Season 3 and Headmasters attempted to stop his fate by killing nearly all of the Primus Vanguard Members and attempt to use their two Star Power Matrixes and two Silver Matrixes to create an Golden Matrix which turn into Golden Megatron to destroy the entire multiverse and the Past, Present & Future to remake it into a single reality only be foiled by Golden Optimus Prime and Final Megatron.
  • In 2050 he got corrupted by Unicron's energy and became Megatron Omega: Perfect where he went on a destructive rampage that drove humanity from Earth to making the planet uninhabitable forcing humans to go into place and would eventually become Gaia.

Beast Era[]

  • His secret message in the Golden Disk would be found by Beast Wars Megatron who would kickstart the events of Beast Wars and Beast Machines.
    • He would indirectly cause the events of Beast Wars II and Neo thanks to turning Earth into Gaia where Beast Wars Galvatron would attempt to harness Unicron's energy with his Nemesis spacecraft and lead to Unicron nearly making Cybertron into making it his new body.
    • He also caused the events of Car Robots where Devil Gigatron's Predacons would cause trouble before being defeated and while some redeemed including Gigatron himself some such as Scourge, the Commandos and Dark T-AI did not.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • Unlike his USA Cartoon counterpart, he laid down arms and made peace with Optimus Prime and formed the Cybertronian Alliance. And while he did dissolve it later on, it was due to his friend Kiloton being killed and did it to protect his Decepticons and believe only true peace can be through his rule making him gave an good enough excuse to make him tragic and an genuine extremist.
    • He later reforms it anyways and felt remorse for some of his actions though not all of them where he builds a better future with Optimus Prime and the Autobots with the humans.
  • He cares for his Decepticons and while was less affable at first, he became more affable to others such as Legends World Megatron, Armada Megatron, and even former enemies such as Optimus Prime and humans such as Spike Witwicky. He also truly cared for Kiloton for kindness and was gravely upsetted by his death to swear none of his men will he harmed
  • He fully redeems himself where while originally trying to conquer the Legends World, he dropped it and decided to protect instead where he becomes a benevolent protector and ruler of it even saving it’s people when Scorponok and Devil Z destroyed it and manage to order an evacuation in time. He even gave up his life to stop an second Dark Nova and after being revived he truly build a better future for Optimus Prime.
    • It means leaving Golden Disk for Predacon Megatron to find was likely due to him forgetting about it’s secret message and didn't know someone would find it, likely because of the loose continuity of the Japanese Continuity.
  • He sheds all of his corruptions in Generation Selects where he saved the Multiverse from his 2010 self and became part of the Primus Vangard to protect the Predecessor World from harm until the birth of the main universe.
  • Some of his outbursts in the Legends Manga were all Heating-Up Periods since he was influenced by Mindwipe and Devil Z in different occasions and his act of driving humanity from Earth due to his rampage being due to him corrupted by Unicron's energy before being cleansed by Lio Convoy giving him moral agency issues.

Trivia[]

  • His USA Cartoon Counterpart ironically also used to be Inconsistently Heinous believing at the time he possessed some redeeming qualities and had too many detracting comedic moments from his villainy until it was pointed out he lost all of his redeeming qualities and all of comedic moments don't detract him as they show how evil he is or are played for satisfaction while allowed him to be voted in Pure Evil.
  • His version alongside his IDW, Cyberverse, One versions are the only versions of Megatron to be both Inconsistently Heinous and Admirable.
  • Before his redemption in Legends and Selects Megatron would've still been Inconsistently Heinous anyways since he was On & Off and had genuine extremist qualities would prevent him from being PE or NPE.
