~ Megatron after brutally murdering Starscream for betraying him
Prime...One shall...fall
~ Megatron's last words to Optimus

Megatron is one of the three main protagonists (alongside Bumblebee and Optimus Prime) of Transformers: Cyberverse.

He is the leader of the Decepticons who seeks to claim the Allspark for himself and conquer Cybertron. However, upon witnessing the actions of Megatron X and what became of Starscream after constantly abusing him, he eventually redeems himself and makes peace with Optimus Prime in his final moments.

He was voiced by Marc Thompson who also voiced Megatron X and Soundblaster in the same series.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • He started the Great War between Autobots and Decepticons, that ends up ravaging Cybertron and causing multiple deaths.
  • He launches an attack at the High Council, mortally wounding Alpha Trion, who dies after deeming Optimus as his successor.
  • He painfully removes Bumblebee's voice box to make sure he doesn't spread word about his plans with the Allspark.
  • His grand plan is to use the Allspark to reprogram the sparks of all new life to be his mindless Decepticon slaves.
  • When Shockwave finds the location of the Allspark on Earth, Megatron has made multiple attempts to destroy the planet to find the Allspark from the remains.
  • His abuse on Starscream is what ended up causing him to snap and eventually become an even viler villain than he was now. Though to be fair in one of those instances Starscream had left Megatron for dead on the moon so it’s possible that much like other versions of Starscream he’d probably had been attempting to overthrow Megatron before.
  • He brutally murders Starscream for his betrayal (to the point where his death is actually treated with minor sympathy since it was all his fault to begin with).
  • Gauds Jetfire to kill Sky-Byte, who is not only a fellow Decepticon but also was one of his good friends.
  • Even after Megatron and the rest of his Decepticon's lives were saved by Optimus from Starscream, Megatron attempts to take the Allspark for himself for his own goals.
  • He commits his worst action when he orders Shockwave to commit suicide to destroy the Allspark, nearly destroying all of Cybertronian life, saying that if he can't have the Allspark, no one can.
  • He then teleports to other universes in hopes of succeeding in his goals in every other universe and take over it.
  • Even after his experience with the Other One started to mellow him down, in his attempts to stop him, Megatron captures some Autobots who were flying unsuspectedly to test his Unspace ray to transport them into Unspace, the void between universes, which would've killed them as Unspace breaks down matter native to other universes.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He has a major code of honor. Thanks to the actions of Megatron X, some decisions by Megatron now are painted in an extremely honorable and Sympathetic light, allowing Optimus Prime and Bumblebee to leave even after they both refused to join him, sparing their lives. He is willing to have multiple peace talks, and is willing to side with Optimus Prime to fight bigger threats, like Starscream, Megatron X and the Quintessons, painting him as a Lighter shade of black, and he only betrays the Autobots only after what seemed to them that they have defeated them, and not betraying them right before they could even stop the Quintessons from annihilating their universe, before immediately returning back to save the universe from them. He also is willing to honor the Peace Treaty despite some occasions, with the Autobots as subjects to Weapons Testing happening after they were flying above trying to spy on him, and was backing down when the Autobots invaded to claim Windblade after realizing he would be violating the treaty in keeping her captive in his territory, having not known of this.
  • Has shown to be extremely disgusted by his alternate self's vileness, saving Astrotrain and the Insecticons from him. Due to that, he returns to his main universe to save it from annihilation by Starscream and then prepares to save all of Cybertron from his wrath knowing of his vile crimes.
  • He's shown to have regretted his mistreatment of Starscream, especially after what he did.
  • Extremely mellowed down after his encounter with Megatron X, eventually redeems himself trying to save Cybertron from him, and when his plan fails and he gets murdered by him, his final words were making peace with Optimus and encouraging him to stand up to Megatron X. His death is also played for sympathy.

Trivia[]

  • He, his Japanese Generation One, Prime, 2005 IDW, One, Matrix Saga incarnations are the only versions of Megatron to be Inconsistently Heinous. Interestingly enough, only 4 of them ended up redeeming themselves. Though there may be a chance for TF One Megatron to redeem himself in a potential sequel, though the chances are low.
