Demon King Malladus is the overarching antagonist of the 2009 action-adventure game The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks.
He is a tyrannical being who arose following Ganondorf's death and the founding of New Hyrule, seeking to conquer the fledgling kingdom. After being defeated and sealed away by the Spirits of Good using the Spirit Tracks, Malladus is revived 100 years later by his servant, Chancellor Cole, using the body of Princess Zelda as a vessel.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- Attempted to kill the Spirits of Good, resulting in his imprisonment.
- To make matters worse, the game's prologue states that he had "destroyed everything in his path" and "much blood was shed". This heavily implies that he had killed lots of people during his attack.
- Along with Chancellor Cole, he made the Spirit Tracks disappear, causing Link's train to become de-railed.
- After possessing Zelda's body, he retreats to the Dark Realm with Chancellor Cole, possibly to regain his strength.
- Is responsible for the creation of the Demon Train.
- He is the most heinous villain in the game, with Chancellor Cole failing the baseline due to a low kill count and Byrne merely following his orders.
- At the end of the game, he tries to repossess Zelda's body, only to be stopped by Byrne, (who had redeemed himself) who he then kills in cold blood.
- He possesses Cole against his will, despite the latter being his most loyal follower, showing his complete lack of gratitude and desires to destroy the world out of spite and sadistic pleasure.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- Despite possibly lacking moral agency issues, he doesn't have enough characterization to be NPE. He only has a few lines of dialogue with them amounting to him shouting at Zelda to release him and him proclaiming that he'll end the world.
