NOTE: Due to the events of X-Men: Days of Future Past, the timeline has been altered changing the directions of the character, so you might be trying to find Magneto (Original Timeline Films).

Magneto, real name, Erik Magnus Lehnsherr, is a major character in the revised continuity of 20th Century Fox's X-Men film series.

He is an extremely powerful and ruthless mutant with the ability to manipulate all forms of magnetism and is the former archenemy of the X-Men. Following the deaths of his parents at a concentration camp at the hands of the Nazi mutant scientist Sebastian Shaw, Erik Lehnsherr set himself in using his powers to avenge his parents, coming across the mutant Charles Xavier. However, after stopping Shaw, Lehnsherr turned against Xavier and formed the Brotherhood of Mutants to oppose Xavier's X-Men, with both organization set in making humanity accept mutantkind, but through different methods.

He was portrayed by Michael Fassbender.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

In General[]

  • While he says he's fighting for mutantkind, he's willing to kill other mutants if they get in the way, which Wolverine calls him out on.

X-Men: First Class[]

  • He kills Sebastian Shaw (though he deserved it when murdered too many innocent humans and mutants alike). In the process, he causes pain to Xavier, who is controlling his mind.
  • He tries to annihilate dozens of warship drivers with their own missiles. While to be fair, the warships fired upon them first, Magneto had a chance to prove mutants to be the better men by not firing upon them.
  • He turns Mystique against Professor X.

X-Men: Days of Future Past[]

  • When he finds out Mystique’s DNA is the key to the Sentinels that slaughter mutants, he betrays and tries to kill her.
  • He tries to kill President Richard Nixon and Bolivar Trask, and tries to kill the X-Men when they oppose it.

X-Men: Apocalypse[]

  • He killed the officers after one of them killed his wife and daughter.
  • After the grief of losing his family, he attempts to kill everyone at his workplace just because one of them realized he was a wanted criminal.
  • He joins Apocalypse, causing destruction around the globe with his powers. He also summons Professor X by controlling his metal wheelchair so Apocalypse can teleport.
  • He has a battle with the X-Men, and destroys part of Egypt in the process.

Dark Phoenix[]

  • After finding out Jean killed Raven, he attempts to kill her for revenge.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He is far too tragic.
    • He and his family were sent to Concentration Camps in Poland to be mass-tortured.
    • His father was separated from him and his mother was shot dead by one of Shaw's men when he failed to move a coin once they found out about his Mutant abilities.
    • He got wrongfully imprisoned for trying to prevent the infamous JFK assassination from ever happening, which he scarcely deserved.
    • When he wanted to start a new family, his wife and daughter was killed from a stray arrow by a policeman. This was all caused due to him saving one of his worker's lives from a collapsed piece of machinery only for them to ungratefully snitch on him.
  • Felt remorse for causing Xavier to be handicapped.
  • Even in his eviler moments, he sees Xavier and Darkholme as friends. He also loves his family, including his deceased mother, wife and daughter.
  • He is an extremist who only does what he does to protect mutantkind.
  • Having not exhibited any villainous behavior at all since the Age of Apocalypse, he redeems himself by becoming the leader of Genosha, an island where mutants go to be left alone and fighting against the genocidal supervillain Vuk. Even before that, he tried to redeem himself by raising a family and living a normal life with the humans and he was also willing to work with the X-Men to fight other threats such as Apocalypse, and he also tried to save John F. Kennedy's life.
