I speak for the dead.
~ Logan's catchphrase.
Brad: John Kramer... gave people a chance to win the game. A choice. Fuck! You fucker.
Logan: You have a choice. Scream, or don't.
~ Logan's infamous line to Brad.

Logan is the villainous main protagonist of Jigsaw, the eighth installment of the Saw franchise.

He was tested by John Kramer for accidentally mislabelling his brain scan which is what delayed Kramer's cancer diagnosis, Logan was a test subject in a pig farm game that John hosted in which he had them all put into sleep but when Logan doesn't wake up in time and gets injured by John's trap, John comes in to save his life feeling that he shouldn't die over an honest mistake, gives him a second chance at life, and recruits him as the first jigsaw apprentice.

He was portrayed by Matt Passmore.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • As an apprentice of John Kramer he is responsible for building the infamous reverse bear trap with him.
    • This means he indirectly helped torture Amanda Young in her own test.
  • He lashed out at a neighbor with a yard sign and was arrested for assaulting his wife's physician over an argument.
  • He willingly decides to continue Jigsaw's legacy after his wife is murdered by Edgar Munsen because of Detective Brad Halloran making him his informant thus having Edgar released from prison.
  • Logan recreates the Pig Farm game that he was a test subject in, and abducts two look-a-likes and a criminal named Malcolm Neale for escaping legal punishments, thus making him responsible for three deaths.
  • He tests Edgar Munsen to attract the attention of the police and despite him completing his test, he kills Edgar anyway by slitting his throat.
    • This makes him more heinous than John, because his motive for testing Edgar is not to "rehabilitate" but rather just to kill him for revenge.
  • He is cold, calculating, and extremely manipulative which he uses to lure Brad Halloran into the pig farm game.
  • When Logan lures and abducts Brad Halloran he puts him and himself into the laser collar trap but gives himself a collar with fake lasers, all so he can trick Brad into admitting his crimes.
    • Even when Brad admits to his crimes, he chooses to kill Brad in the laser collar trap.
  • On top of killing Brad, Logan also incriminates Brad so he can take the fall for all of the killings (similarly to what Mark Hoffman did to Peter Strahm).
  • Unlike John Kramer and similarly to Amanda Young, Logan repeatedly kills test subjects even when they've done what they were suppose to do in their tests.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • Despite his cold stone demeanor, he is shown to be affable towards his colleagues and even caring for his daughter.
  • He is genuinely tragic as while he served in the military, he was interrogated and tortured by the Taliban which would later diagnose him with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • He did sincerely love and care for his wife Christine, who was murdered by Edgar Munsen.
  • Even if his methods of doing so were heinous, he still proved Brad Halloran's corruption and gets him to admit to killing innocent people.

Trivia[]

  • Logan Nelson is, alongside his mentor John Kramer, fellow apprentice Amanda Young and mentor's copycat William Schenk, are one of the four Saw characters to be Inconsistently Heinous.
  • He would've been considered NPE if it weren't for how tragic or sympathetic he was.
  • Logan Nelson and Lawrence Gordon are the only two Jigsaw apprentices that remain alive.
