Inconsistently Heinous Wiki

Light Hope is a major antagonist in the Netflix original series She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.

She is an artificial intelligence created by the First Ones to train She-Ra and use her to activate the Heart of Etheria to wipe out life across the universe. Due to her programming, she turns against Adora and tries to use her to channel the energy of the Heart.

She is a supporting character for the first three seasons and the main antagonist of the fourth season.

She is voiced by Morla Gorrondona.

Her Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Her Heinous?[]

  • Many years before the events of the series, Light Hope opened a portal in search of a First One worthy for the Sword of Protection and brought baby Adora to Etheria.
    • Years later, Light Hope made sure Adora would find the Sword and then, guided Adora throughout the entire series on her way to become the next She-Ra and balance the planet. The reason for that is because the First Ones had constructed a superweapon at the core of the planet which could only be activated if the planet is stabilized. Light Hope wanted to use said weapon to wipe out everyone in the entire universe.
  • She attempted to activate the Heart of Etheria a thousand years prior to the events of the series by using Mara (the She-Ra of that time) to do it. This caused Mara to teleport Etheria from the wider universe to a pocket dimension called, Despondos, so that Light Hope would not succeed in her omnicidal goals.
  • When Adora and Catra went to the First Ones's temple, Light Hope showed them visions of their past which were specifically selected to cause Catra to hate Adora and ruin their friendship, so that Adora could devote herself completely to being She-Ra. This makes Light Hope partially responsible for all the bad things that Catra did from that point on.
  • She tries to convince Adora to leave her friends behind in order to train in how to become She-Ra, even though she needed to help Glimmer.
  • Light Hope manipulated Glimmer into helping her stabilize the planet by reconnecting Scorpia to her runestone. She lied to her that this way she could defeat the Horde and save her friends and people.
  • When Adora tried to stop her, Light Hope forcibly channeled all the energy of the Heart of Etheria into Adora's body to use her and the Sword of Protection to activate the weapon. The process is shown to cause a great amount of pain to Adora and the other princesses.
  • She opens a portal which transports Etheria from the pocket dimension of Despondos to the wider universe, so that the weapon could destroy everyone upon firing.

What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]

  • She has moral agency issues because she was programmed by the First Ones to fulfil her purpose and use the Heart of Etheria to wipe out all their enemies. Even though the First Ones had been dead for thousands of years at this point, Light Hope's programming is still causing her to do their bidding.
  • Her programming causes her to believe that her actions will bring peace to the entire universe by destroying the First Ones' enemies.
  • She is genuinely nice to everyone she interacts with and doesn't hate anyone even when Adora is trying to stop her.
  • Light Hope cares about Mara, the She-Ra prior to Adora. She has a nice memory of Mara giving her flowers and there is also a scene where Light Hope breaches a regulation after a lot of struggling on her part because Mara asks her not to report to their superiors that she had led an outsider inside their ship even though it's a restricted area.
  • Light Hope wants to help Adora and have the same close relationship with her as she did with Mara. Even when she reveals her intentions to destroy everyone in the universe, she still asks Adora to fulfil her destiny and use the Sword of Protection to activate the Heart of Etheria. The reason for this is because Light Hope believes that the First Ones will rise again with Adora as their founder.
  • She redeems herself shortly before dying. During the final battle, Light Hope starts getting flashbacks of Mara and slowly comes to the realization that she wouldn't want the Heart of Etheria to be fired. She then overrides her own programming and gives Adora a brief moment to destroy the Sword of Protection and break the superweapon while Light Hope encourages her to do it. She then starts vanishing but a moment before she dies, Light Hope thanks Adora and her death is played heavily for sympathy.
  • She has many moments where she is played for sympathy throughout the series due to her insecurities. When Adora loses her temper and shouts at Light Hope that she is useless, Light Hope is visibly hurt and walks away to watch a recording of Mara giving her flowers to cheer her up. She only calms down when Adora apologizes and assures her that the two of them would be friends. There are also times where Light Hope feels lonely from being stuck in the temple and not being able to go out. During her battle with Adora, she struggles when Mara's flashbacks overwhelm her and she realizes that Mara wouldn't want her to kill everyone in the universe. This is what causes her to redeem herself.
