Let this serve as a warning: You are no longer welcome in my domain! The dragon world, and all the dragons in it, belong to me and me alone! Trespassers will be shown no mercy!
~ Leonard Burne

Leonard Burne, better known as Buzzsaw, is the main antagonist of Dragons: The Nine Realms.

He is a lumberjack that owns the forest where Project ICARUS is set up, leading him to unintentionally discovering the Hidden World. Upon this discovery, he becomes obsessed with taking over the Hidden World and becoming the "King of Dragons" in order to kill all of the dragons and profit off of them by selling them to poachers.

He was voiced by Haley Joel Osment.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • He begins hunting down Thunder to get revenge for the dragon burning down the Burne Lumber Company, even though Buzzsaw was actually the one who set the forest on fire.
  • After discovering the Hidden World, he begins capturing dragons with the intention to sell them, believing himself to be the "King of Dragons" and the owner of the Hidden World.
  • He forces Ford and Winston to work for him in the Hidden World, and they are both shown to be afraid of him due to his mental instability, suggesting he is willing to hurt them. They mention at one point he doesn't even give them food.
  • While they eventually do form a genuine bond, his initial method of taming his dragon Jack was imprisoning it and using a whistle to control it.
  • He repeatedly tries to kill the Dragon Riders in order to stop them from preventing his plan to poach the dragons in the Hidden World.
  • Eventually he gets his hands on the Book of Dragons, and this allows him to discover the existence of Jörmungandr, the most dangerous dragon in existence. He sets it free with the intention of having it kill all of the dragons in the Hidden World so he can sell the dead dragons to poachers.
  • In order to set Jörmungandr free, he captures and forces the Sky Torcher to attack the Dragon Riders, almost killing Tom and Thunder.
  • He stops Tom from incapacitating Jörmungandr with a crossbow bolt dipped in Speed Stinger venom, leading to Jörmungandr turning on him and poisoning Jack.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • His crimes of trying to destroy the world are taken seriously, but many of his independent episode moments are played for laughs, with the Dragon Riders often thwarting his plans in comedic ways. This even makes him close to be almost too comedic.
  • He is mentally unstable, causing him to go between unhinged and affable depending on the scene. When he is outside of the Hidden World his mental instability is significantly less apparent, as seen when Eugene convinces him that he is delusional, and Buzzsaw believes this and earnestly thanks him for trying to help.
  • He genuinely cares about his dragon Jack, forming a close bond with him and later being distraught when Jack is poisoned by Jörmungandr.
  • After the Dragon Riders help save Jack's life, Buzzsaw redeems himself and helps the Dragon Riders during the final battle against Jörmungandr.
