~ The One Who Waits speaking to the Lamb after the latter's death. |
The Lamb is the titular main protagonist of the 2022 roguelike action-adventure game Cult of the Lamb. They are a Cult Leader and minion of The One Who Waits Who help him gets Revenge Of Bishop of Old Faith The Lamb, true to their name, was a literal sacrificial lamb killed by a dark cult, until they were given a second chance after death by The One Who Waits.
The Lamb is neither inherently evil nor villainous - whether they take on these sorts of attributes is based on how the character is played in the game. Regardless, the Lamb's moral compass can range from being questionably anti-heroic, to being an anti-villainous visionary, to being a heartless monster.
Their Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Them Heinous?[]
- They lead a cult in the name of The One Who Waits.
- They can mistreat their followers in various ways, such as intimidating them to have them give up their money, making them starve or making them eat poop or meat of dead followers, brainwashing them (with a chance of making them sick), etc.
- They can kill some innocent NPCs and assault Rakshasa's partner and later attacking the latter when he tries to avenge them, causing him to be visibly scared of the Lamb for the rest of the game.
- They can betray Ratau by sacrificing him to the Red Fox.
- They can sacrifice their followers to Midas, allowing him to turn them into golden statues, leaving them alive and suffering.
- They stand out due to effectively having less resources than the Bishops, who have more followers and land than them.
What Makes Them Inconsistent?[]
- Most of their heinousness depends on how the player plays them. As a matter of fact, the Lamb can be played as a much more benevolent character, which essentially makes them On & Off.
- They have a genuinely tragic backstory since they, alongside their entire species, were killed by the Old Faith.
- The trailers show them to have a genuinely affable personality.
- While sacrificing Ratau is one of the most heinous actions the Lamb can commit, it also ironically shows a redeeming quality since they try to save the old rat from the Red Fox, showing that despite everything they genuinely care about him, and seem to regret sacrificing their closet friend at the last moment.
- Them fighting against the Bishops of the Old Faith can ultimately be considered a heroic action since they're cruel deities controlling a murderous religion.
- Under the Mystic Seller's orders, they free the Bishops of the Old Faith from a state between life and death where they are forced to relive their final moments of agony.
