Kraken is major antagonist of Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean film series. It is giant sea monster, and the pet/servant of captain Davy Jones, whom he unleashes on anyone hapless enough to incur his wrath.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Her Heinous?[]

  • It is an unrestrained marine predator that poses a threat to most of the creatures around it.
  • It works in conjunction with Davy Jones, adding immensely to the latter's already brutal reputation.
  • Despite killing them in horrifying or traumatising ways, the people it preys upon can be dragged to Davy Jones' Locker (if not to Jones himself). This, as shown with Jack Sparrow, is an 'And I Must Scream' place of torment specific to the individual's worst fear.
  • Threatened and caused many ships to sink and many sailors to perish.
  • It destroys a Turkish ship, along with its sailors, where Jack Sparrow's hat is found.
  • At Jones's behest, it destroys the Edinburgh Trader after following Will Turner's escape to it. The Kraken attack kills many people and those who remain are also killed by Jones' men.
  • It attacks Black Pearl several times and kills many sailors; some brutally, by literally crushing a sailor through a window, with his bones audibly breaking, much to Pintel and Ragetti's horror.
  • After Elizabeth chains Jack to the Black Pearl, it kills the latter and drags him to Davy Jones' Locker as well as destroying the ship. If not for Elizabeth's act, it would have killed the rest of the crew as well.
    • Following this act, the team was forced to go on a dangerous journey to save Jack.
  • In the video game you can see another ship that the Kraken destroyed with its people, moving it to the locker.
  • It was so dangerous that the British Navy feared that Jones would use it to retaliate against them and forced Jones to kill it.

What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]

  • It lacks moral agency, as it is essentially a loyal predator doing Jones' bidding, and characterization, since it is a carnivorous sea monster.
    • Although considering it does show signs of intelligence, plays with its victims before eventually killing them, and being incredibly furious on being attacked by the Black Pearl that it retaliated on the crew, this is a minor prevention.
  • Since it works under Davy Jones, it is endlessly loyal to him, even reciprocating to Jones genuinely caring for it, as he treats it as a pet and when the British force him to kill the Kraken, he shows sadness.
  • Its death is played for sympathy, evoking clear 'Alas, Poor Villain', with Jack - the Kraken's own victim of its implacable pursuit - sombrely regarding it with melancholy, and Jones looking stricken in response to Beckett disdainfully remarking upon it.
