King Bowser Koopa, better know as King Koopa, Koopa, King Dad, and various other aliases, is the main antagonist of all three cartoon series' based on the Super Mario Bros. video games. Much like his mainstream counterpart, he is the arch-nemesis to Mario, though unlike him, he shows a complete and utter hatred for the plumber, doing anything he can to get rid of him once and for all.
He was voiced by the late Harvey Atkin.
His Evil Ranking[]
Debated Validations[]
- Although he abuses his minions a lot in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show, he does seem to act like a benevolent boss of sorts in The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3, where he congratulates his Sledge Bros. for capturing Luigi and Toad in the episode "Never Koop a Koopa", though it is not made clear if he truly cares about them or simply sees them as more competent minions.
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- He has a very long history of causing trouble for Princess Toadstool and the Mushroom Kingdom.
- In "Do You Princess Toadstool Take This Koopa..." he turned the mushroom people into rocks and threatened to kill the Mario Brothers by crushing them with the prison walls, unless Princess Toadstool marries him, of which he lied to and turned them back into stone.
- In "Star Koopa" he threatened to make Princess Toadstool's people give up or he'll destroy their planet with his Birdo Ray.
- In "Recycled Koopa", he dumped all of his waste on the citizens of Brooklyn, turning them into zombified Koopas. He also intended on doing the same to the rest of the world.
- He has attempted mass murder on the cave people in Dome City twice. The first time was in "Send in the Clowns", where he lured them (as well as Mario, Luigi, the Princess and Yoshi) into a circus before dropping them into cages and intending to feed them to his dinosaurs.
- His second attempt to kill the cave people was in "King Scoopa Koopa", where he sold fast food to the cave people, Luigi and Yoshi, which caused them to slowly turn into chickens. He then planned on turning them into food and selling them to dinosaurs.
- To make matter worse, when Mario and Princess Toadstool tried to shut his restaurant down, he got the cave people to attack them.
- Unlike his mainstream counterpart, he has very few redeeming qualities (if not none) and is far more openly despicable, showing true disdain for Mario. Several examples include the following gone from the mainstream version:
- He has no genuine romantic affection for Princess Toadstool as he would be willing to kill or abandon her when she's no use to him. There was even a marriage attempt in the episode "Do You Princess Toadstool Take This Koopa...?" which was only so he would be ruler of the mushroom kingdom and the episode in "Count Koopula" where he wanted to turn her into a vampire against her will
- Is abusive to a majority of his minions and rarely treats them with kindness unlike his mainstream version who is very caring and friendly toward them despite their failures
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is too comedic to be taken seriously, and he is also severely incompetent as his goals ultimately never succeed in the end, and he constantly suffers from many comical moments to be taken seriously, such as having a large amount of blocks falling on top of him in "Rock TV", and getting a Bob-Omb blown up in his face in "The Night Before Cave Christmas". The fact that he ultimately never succeeds in his goals is arguably a dominant part of his character.
- Although he will get angry at them if they try to double-cross him, he genuinely cares about his children, as his spoils them a lot and is willing to go out of his way to get them what they want. He also seems to care for his mother, as he looked upset when he had disappointed her over still being a bachelor in "Do You Princess Toadstool Take this Koopa…?", and even followed her order to sit at a corner.
- He has several scapegoat moments, as not only does his defeats frequently rub salt in the wound, he constantly ends up faltering and failing in his goals in humiliating fashions (some even more than others).
Trivia[]
- This is one of the four versions of Bowser who is considered Inconsistently Heinous alongside his mainstream version, his White Knuckle Scorin' version, and his paper version.
